So this was a weird one, the likes of which I had never seen ... there was an arrangement where a cross-walk was marked but no traffic light was provided. This sign instructed pedestrians how to fend for themselves. There was such a sign and flag rack at each side of the road, so that the flags would continually be getting carried back and forth as pedestrians crossed while waving them. A very 1800s way to cross a road...
