Bob thanks very much for your thoughtful comment. Probably a cliché but in these small market setups I like to catch the moment of sale; that is, when the money and product are exchanged. Also, there is usually a nice community feeling in the situation.Doug: I really like this one. Besides the overall graphic which syncs up with the angle, there is the social aspect of the man resting while the woman works as well as the incredible display of all the local produce for sale. Also, there is valid reason for this photo to be in color and it is just not a coincidence.
Hi Paul, I see in your later post you caught your location error! More thickly forested around the Keanae - Hana side, maybe tradewinds bringing more moisture. Car-sick territory for sure, very distressing. And I was thinking "how much worse can the road get at this point?" Haha. 🙄Hi Doug,
I see you survived the Hana Highway.
I became car sick at Keanae (it was summer 2007) although I was driving myself and gave up returning to the Russian village (near Paia) where I was renting a house
Also I made the biggest error of my photo career as I took too little film with me and I was out of film when I reached Keanae (a wonderful place where, besides, you can have the best taro in the world).
I still get mad at that!
