Waiting for my 40mm 1.4

I just ordered a VC 40mm 1.4 MC 🙂.. And I'm waiting! Anyone else waiting for a lens on order?
ordered, waited, used, loving it....😀
btw, i got the sc version..... be sure to post some shots of your mc version....😉

cheers...

It's a cracker of a lens and you will love it. I got the single-coated one and it's lovely for vintage look color photos even though it's touted as a B&W lens.

Congratulations Ewoud, it's a nice lens. I may be selling mine, but not because I don't like it. I have to find funds to pay for a lens I am waiting for, just ordered from Cameraquest last week, a CV 25!

The SC version is still my most used lens. Had some great high contrast light to play with last Saturday, pretty pleased with the results. For a fast lens it does a pretty good job at minimum aperture too 🙂

That is plain right nice.

Cheers, I was kicking myself for not having the 21/4 with me but in some ways having just one lens with you is quite liberating - you either shoot or don't shoot, no lens-change decision paralysis to go through...

Had the SC version for a while. Really liked it on Tri-X. Two drawbacks I noticed: 1) Weird ghosting effects on the negative with light sources in the frame (wouldn't be a problem with the multi-coated), and 2) Bokeh gets a bit funky wider the f2. All in all, though, another great CV lens, tremendous value and lots of speed. I printed negs that I scanned with a flatbed up to 12x18 and they look great.

Ewoud,

Here (see link below) is a grab the girls and shoot so the background is too busy but I think that shows the 40mm MC in a very favorable light in that the subjects isolate nicely in spite of the background.

I just got my lens a week ago from a member here on the forum. I love the feel, fit and finish. Also with my R D1 the 40 made for a nice walk around lens. I left all my other glass at home for the maiden voyage.

I wish you the best with your new lens.

Hey that's sunny southampton! I grew up there, long way away now though 🙄

Would love to see some more photos from round about the town..

PS

There are a few shots with the MC version in my gallery:

David, nice pic,

And the shot by terao shows how good it is in high contrast light.

I got mine yesterday, I'm now finishing my first roll of tri-x, did some shots at the Haarlem bus-station yesterday.

But the box says 'classic' does that mean I got a SC version instead of a MC?

Anyway I live the compact size, will scan my first roll soon!

On March 7 I ordered a Voightländer 40mm f/1.4 Nokton S.C. and I'm really hoping it arrives sooner rather than later. Nice to hear all the positive comments in the meantime.

Cheers,
Alex

Ewoud,

If it's a SC version it will say so on the lens in blue. If not it's the MC. Enjoy your lens.
