yeah, it was the sub-$5 price (that I keep hearing about) that got me in there... but for the $0.75 savings over the prolab I won't be going back. For C41 b&w I figured that DigitalICE would fix any problems, so I wasn't too worried. The biggest reason I don't like going to the prolab is because it is almost a 1/2 drive each way and Walmart is on the way to work... so I guess it is back to balancing the driving inconvenience against the home developing and dust spotting inconvenience...
FWIW, Walmart gave 3.5x3.5 proofs, my prolab gives 5x5's. Proof sheets cost more than proof prints... but if I shoot 6x9, that's all they can do unless I go to expensive scan to prints.
I have not shot any color 120 in several months, but when I did take it to Wal-Mart, the set-up was very self service. You filled out one of those envelopes, insert your film, drop it in a kiosk and wait two weeks. Many people said it went to Fuji, many said Dwayne's in Kansas. It cost about $2-3 to process only.

I send my 120/220 C41 through walmart. Mine originally went to a Fuji lab in Maryland, then Georgia, and now Tennessee. My sleeved 120 C41 negs used to be $0.84 but are now 1.56 i believe. Still can't beat it. I used to send out my 120 b/w and that was $1.38 if I recall. I now develop my own, so no need for that.
It does seem as if prices vary quite a bit location to location, though.

I just had two rolls of color negative 120 done at walmart. They're not in store yet but when I called to check on their status, fuji said they were invoiced and the price of each was $1.44. That's for develop and print from 6x7 negatives. Maybe it's a regional thing? I'm in CA.

I had 120 slide done. Develop only, came in little over a week. Costs $4 bucks.

Dwayne's Photo charges $3.49/$4.49 (color/B&W) for developing, plus $2.95 for 4.5MB scans.

I will never leave film with Wal-Mart again, they lost 2 rolls of film, and wouldn't even try to solve the problem. That is more a result of the area I live in though where any amount of human respect is rare. But still why bother when the film goes to dwayes and you can just send it directly.
I agree with Raid, for develop only, Dwaynes can't be beat on a price quality ratio. Their proofing is decent, and you don't have to drop your film into the unknown and wait, you can actually get shipping confirmation, and call the lab if you want to change anything. I have been using another lab for a few weeks that gives me really good high resolution scans for a good price, but plan on sending my next batch to dwaynes for process only because they are cheap and reliable.
