wanna talk rangefinders?

talking rangefinders ...

I had occasion to have all three of my Leicas out yesterday: CL, M4-2, M9. They are lovely things. Each has its preferred normal lens on it: M-Rokkor 40mm f/2 II on the CL, Color Skopar 50mm f/2.5 on the M4-2, Nokton 50mm f/1.5 ASPH (LTM) on the M9. I share the other lenses in the cabinet back and forth between them freely, but generally like these as standard configurations and don't switch the normal lenses around.

They are a delight to hold and use. The M4-2 has the best viewfinder. The CL the best ergonomics overall. The M9 the best image quality.

In the past I've owned and used Minolta, Nikon, Canon, Kiev, and Contax RF cameras, including the Contax G2. They all had their charm, but these three Leicas do it right for me.

I have a bit more than I need in way of lenses for them. Beyond the normals, the M-Rokkor 90/4, the Hektor 135/4.5 are wonderful. At the shorter end, Color Skopar 21, 28, 35, Ultron 28, Nokton 40. Hmm. I think I'll sell all of those and buy a new Elmarit-M 28mm to replace them. Hmm. Maybe keep the Color Skopar 35 too. That'll be enough.

I haven't used the M4-2 for a while. I think I'll load it today ... 🙂
