so it could be a bulletproof Leica. At least it should be looking at the amount of money you need to spend in order to take it home (or into the next combat-battle)

I checked his site but come on, is that really what we consider a ''famous photographer''? I'm not trying to know him. He seems to be a professional photographer with a long career but I can't imagine how anyone would pay a lot of money to have his beat up camera.
It's not like Winogrand's camera. Winogrand is a pretty significant photographer in the history of 20th century street photography and I can understand how someone would want his camera as a collector's item.

And the camera could, at least, have a piece of shrapnel sticking out of it somewhere and maybe a little blood spatter wouldn't hurt either.

Hmm.. I think I'll pass.
But I do seriously hope my M8 looks like that when I pass pass it on to my son in 30 or so years. I'm sure it will be as 'obsolete' as a 127 Brownie by then, but I hope he'll take it out sometime and take a couple of pictures of his kids.
If that's all I ever accomplish and as famous as I ever get I'll consider myself a resounding success.
