warning...another gear question

i'm thinking of getting either an r2a or an r3a to pair up with my r4a.

my thinking is the r4a would handle the wides to 35 and the r2/3a would handle the 50 and the 75.

the r2/3 have different finder magnifications and also one has fl for 35 and the for 40.

if i were to only use the 50 and 75 on the second body which might be best? the 1:1 finder or the other at .7?

The R3A / R3M bodies are the best Bessas for the 50/75/90 focal lengths due to the 1:1 VF.

Joe, doesn't the R4M have framelines from 21 to 50? Also, what's the VF on the R4M, .7? Sounds like you prefer the "A" cameras and perhaps that's why you are thinking of selling the R4M...

yes, 21 to 50, not sure what the vf is.
i do prefer the auto exposure cameras a bit more, especialy with a wide angle lens on it.

i'd like a complete cv outfit, from 15 to 75 for lenses and 2 bodies that would best cover that range.

nothing, no deals of late.

i did try to trade for a dslr and then for a 50/2.8 elmar but neither came to fruition.

i have this fear that if i keep the r4m that i'll never use it as i much prefer the r4a, so i'm now thinking of the r3a to balance the lens set i have and to add another 'a' body.

I use the R3A for my 50 and 75. The VF is great! The R4M gets the 35mm and shorter lenses. I think the R4 vf magnification is .52.

I would go with an R4A and R3M, of course I would get a winder for one so it could hang over my right shoulder while the other is around my neck.

2 R4s are one to many IMHO.

If I were going to build an M mount system today that is what I would go with. I might go with an R4M rather than the A, but that is me.

Maybe I'll keep my Bessa R with a resident 50mm lens and get the R4M for the 21mm and the 35mm. How does that sound? Two bodies for less money!

the r4 is perfect for the smaller cv wide lenses. i really like keeping the 25 on it most of the time.
the 21 and the 35 work well on it also and the r would be good for just the 50.
good plan, i think.

Well, the best laid plans...etc. Daughter called today. Got transfered to another location in Chicago and has to move (but no raise!) so I'll have to help her out as first, last and cleaning deposit are a bit over the top for her.

But it was, and is, a good plan. But must wait 'til next month.

When she was at NAU (Northern Arizona University) she was an English major, but never told me that she was also a French major (I mean what does a kid from Arizona know about French?). Anyway, in her senior year she applied for and got a fully paid stipend to study for a summer in France. When she told me I said What? Just then the phone rang. It was someone from the family she would be staying with there. I was floored when I heard my daughter speaking fluent French!

Some kids play video games, others do something else.

Why do you do this to me regulary? Whenever I decided that I don´t need an R4A you do start another thread like this.🙂

Bet, you will be happy with a R3A. I suggest a black one.

I would advise you to sell the R4M as long as they're still special, save the money for something actually useful and use your ZI with the 50 and 75mm lenses. Its effective rangefinder baselength is better than that of the R3A - 0.7x75mm is still more than 1x37mm. The Bessa won't give you anything more than the ZI - OK, magnification is 1:1, but the ZI's finder is still better IMHO. And it would be one less body that distracts you from taking pictures and that you end up selling in a couple of months on RFF at a loss.
