I put the topic here instead of in the Accessory category because I want to warn more digital M user to avoid this terrible product.
To be able to use my Elmar 50mm LTM on my M9 and not leave the mount detection sensor uncovered as with original Leica adapter, I am looking for something like "For lenses like the original Elmar 5cm, there are a few specially cut out adapters on the bay that has the sensor portion covered (and milled for coding at the back), and the right side cut out to allow the low profile infinity stopper to clear the adapter and move towards 1m. " (suggest by Bennyng, and original discussion in htt://rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143696)
There are only two brand of this kind of adapter available in market, the Kipon and Metabones. I read some good review on Metabones about there M->M43 adapter before and had an impression that they have a very high standard of quality. So I order one from adorama, and it's exactly the one list this

The Adapter arrived last evening. It came with a good factory box, looks good. But when I took the adapter out, I can feel immediately that it's a cheap made products. I put it on my M9 with a lens and it's strange to feel some fraction between the camera mount and the back surface of the adapter. At first I thought it's too tight, so I un-mount and re-mount for several times and even try it on another M body ----what a terrible mistake I made coz my blindly trust on Metebones. The metal edge of the cut out area brass scrubbed the M9 and my film M's mount and made a clear scratch on it. My heart was bleeding!:bang::bang::bang:
after I checked the adapter more carefully, I found the following major problems.
1) all the metal edges are not refined. they are sharp enough to cut your finger or something. Most seriously, the edge of the cut out area will scrub your camera mount.
2) the lens lock and release mechanism can't lock the adapter. Same root cause of the poor building quality in problem 1.
3) when I install in on my LTM lens, I can feel some unsmooth rotation between the adapter and the lens thread. Guess the same root cause of the problem 1 and 2.
Maybe it's a good design from Metabones, but the poor building quality and control ruin everything. I would like to warn all RFF members to stay away from this terrible product until they make something to correct the problem.
I will return the item to adorama. I have no complain to them
BTW, I found some similar review on adorama's website. Seems that I am not the only one been bite.
