Did I really see a Praktica FX with "made in Japan" stamped on the bottom plate? Is there such a thing? I could not find a reference to this on the usual Praktica web sites. I thought that Prakticas were as much DDR as FEDs were USSR. Input appreciated, thanks.

I seem to remember that Praktica production was in Japan at the end of its brand life. But I never really followed them at the time, so I could be wrong.

Praktica's zoom lenses were sourced from Japan during VEB Pentacon's final years, as were the flash units.
The bodies were assembled in the DDR and used a Copal square metal shutter that was electronically controlled.

The FX is one of the earliest models, so a "Made in Japan" would definitely be odd/special/fake?
Mine has leatherette on the bottom and no stampings of any kind there. The "Made in Germany" stamp is on the WLF.
