WB issues

Auto balance color on the R-D1 can sometimes be hit or miss. I have noticed that in one shot it can be quite good, in the next not. As has been stated, this is generally much more true indoors than out. OTOH, the specific color balance settings are excellent. If this really bothers you, you may have to keep twiddling the dial as light conditions change as you move around outdoors. This should really just be a problem on partly cloudy days. If its sunny or overcast, one setting should work for most of the day. Unfortunately, there's no easy way around this problem as you have presented it, but hey, that's what hobbies are for!

Odd, I actually rather like the WB on the R-D1s. Never really had an issue with it. Like any camera, WB indoors with mix lighting is going to be tough for any auto WB camera.

I usually set mine on something (incandescent say) and use lightroom (whatever you use) to bulk WB those photos in the same lighting situation. In any case, if you shoot in RAW (why wouldn't you?) then there will be no lost in color depth and you can pick what the WB was in your mind's eye.

THanks all for the advices and the tips, I will try to implement some of them, at least I know npw that it is not only me.
