So I am making a four day trip from Beijing to Hong Kong at the beginning of May. I know that I am staying near Causeway and will be hitting up Stanley. What is the current situation with film? I want to shoot Ektar 100 and Tri-X in 35mm size. In Beijing I pay the equivalent of $38 HK dollars a roll. Should I bring it with me or will I be better off getting it in HK?
Thanks for the help.

The prices seem fairly comparable. When I was living there last year I think I was paying 34HKD for a roll of Tri-X. Ilford and film like Velvia 50 will obviously be more. There are plenty of places to get film both on the island side and on the peninsula.

A great place to shoot. Go for it.

Just came from HK to get my supply of film from Photo Scientific in Stanley Street in Central. They have a pretty good selection of film, paper, and chemicals. Prices are about the same as you quote.

You should bring your own film. While there are places to buy film here in HK these places are not everywhere. Bring your own film and avoid the hassle of looking for these shops. Off the top of my head I can only name 5 in all of HK with a proper selection of b/w and color slide and print films.
