Right on, Raid! Just spent the morning out draining the little charge on my battery that was left after I picked my camera up. I am in love! I'd post my first few shots, but I'm still getting the hang of this thing! Now I just need to wait on my '55 KMZ J-3 that I bought a few nights ago after reading you and Brian Sweeney go on about Sonnars!

A 1955 KMZ J-3 should be quite sharp if correctly collimated. The optics are most likely German made, just like a CZJ 5cm 1.5. The CZJ 5cm 1.5 and the 2.0 are among my alltime favorite lenses.

It was pretty fun this weekend but boy was it cold and windy. I don't know how the photos will come out since it was cold enough that the Retinette's shutter got a little sticky if I had it out of my pocket for more than a minute or two. I hope I got at least a couple decent ones.

Michael,
I lucked out [maybe]; I initially planned to study in the UK,and my admission letters came to me from Manchester, Sheffield, Swansea, Kent, Cardiff and other places there, but then I received a letter in which I was informed that the tuition fees were trippled by Margaret Thatcher to keep those damned foreign students away from the UK.So I switched to the less costly USA, and I am still here!
I could have been now living in colder areas.

Your luck and our misfortune. My daughter is doing her Phd at Manchester. It`s only 50 mins away and is my old home town. Kuvvy and I were there last weekend with the Manchester Flickr group.

Well, this was a packed weekend for me: went to the NYC RFF get-together Saturday (which was fab-fab-fab), and yesterday went with Galfriend and another friend to the Brooklyn Museum for the Who Shot Rock and Roll exhibit, which I highly recommend to anyone who can get there before it closes next Sunday. Didn't take many snaps, but the weekend was photographically rich.

Hi Barrett,
I am glad to hear that your get-together was "fab-fab-fab"! Brooklyn is too far for me for attending a museum.
This weekend, I will try to enjoy my 50mm lenses even more. They really are treasures.
What will you be up to photographically?

Raid: Well, the week's been a bit too exciting in an uninvited way, with a bit of food poisoning earlier in the week, which left my lovely immune system wide-open for a cold, which had me outta commission for a few days, which led to a pile-up of jobs pending...
It means I'll be doing a bit of work tomorrow, but I'll have the mighty little Contax with me. Good thing it seems to behave well in bitter cold, just like my Hexars.
(I'll just assume you and the gals are a lot warmer down there right now...)

Hoping to take some photos of me soon-to-be-newborn son, who was due 3 days ago. Should be anytime!

My weekend in Tokyo was nice. The weather wasn't as cold as it has been recently (global warming, where did you go?). I shot a few rolls in different districts of the city, and have high hopes that I got a few keepers.
But it's Monday now, and the cold has returned. Snow is forecast for tonight. Hopefully it lingers long enough in the morning for me to get some shots of it.

It is weekend again! What a relief to have behind me a very busy work week.
I will try to use and enjoy the Heliar 5cm 3.5 and a MF camera too.
What are your photography plans for the weekend?

Shooter of Film...
Our daughter did some demo riding at the Equine Affaire (horse show) today...This is taking place this weekend at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds...
She along with 6 or 7 other riders/horses performed some demo riding for a bunch of Horse People...
It was/is raining so "Yes" I have shot in the rain...I shot this same event last year and one of my photos was published in the Morgan Horse magazine along with the article about the demo...most likely someone will do a write-up on today's event and I'll provide a few shots for it too...
That's all I have planned for this weekend...at least for now...

I plan on using the Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm 1.5 lens that I just received yesterday from Brian Sweeney. It looks beautiful on my M6 and I'm hoping to get some beautiful shots with it.
I recently started a darkroom class at my local community college, so I'll be developing and printing myself the Black and White shots I'll be taking with the new lens. Most likely I'll be using Tri-X for these shots.

Whatever
If the weather isn't too ghastly, I'll be finishing up my side-by-side comparison of a newly acquired Leicaflex SL with a Contarex Bullseye that I've had for a while. Hmmm....which one is gonna win???

Sam: Congrats on the published image and on having your daughter be involved in such a sport.
Ellen: You will love the lens and the images from this lens. I have such a lens from Brian, and when I started using it, I forgotabout my other 25 50mm lenses for several months!
Vince: The Contarex is a classic with great lenses and the Leicaflex has great lenses. I have the Contarex with 2 lenses (50mm/2 and 180mm/2.8), and I don't own a Leicflex.
How will you compare the two systems?
We have OK weather today, which is better than having rain.
My camera bag is ready for use. (Standard Leica with 21mm Rokkor/Leica M6 with 35mm 1.4 Summilux/Bessa R with Heliar 50mm 3.5). Life is good.

Sorry if I am breaking any rules by posting in the wrong place (please let me know where to repost if I should!), but thought I'd follow up with my J-3 that came last week. I am thrilled!

The focus seems a little off, but I'm getting the hang of it! Now I need to get out in the snow and take some more shots!

We have this thread to discuss our weekend photography plans and actions. If your J-3 was used on the weekend, then posting about is fine, but talk about the weekend.
