Weekend Photography Plans: What are you up to?

Yesterday, as I do every second Friday, I was ambling around Edinburgh. Took my G2 and a 28mm lens, as well as a Canon eos1v and 70-300mm lens. I put some TRI x in the canon. Never used it before so looking forward to developing that. Took about 50 shots in a 3 hour period. I've always used HP5 for street stuff. About to do my usual 60 mile cycle on a fixed this morning. Sometimes take my G1 for that but it's raining here so that'll be left in it's bag at home.
 
I have had a buying toys kind of week, so I am going to be testing out two new camera bodies and four new lenses!!! I'll be in Traverse City for the holiday weekend, so there should be some interesting street activity and I have always wanted to shoot the rides and activity on the midway at night.
 
Okay - have refined what I will do with the new toys. Weekend B&W shootout:

Camera 1: M2 and 35 Lux v.1
Camera 2: MP 0.85 and 35 Lux FLE

Will shoot one roll of tri-x at canister speed with each lens combo and see what shakes out.

This should be fun.
 
I will start the weekend with some coffee at a bakery, followed by having someone take passport photos of my two daughters.

I will have my Contax G1 with me today. A second G1 is on its way from KEH to me!
 
I will attend a neighborhood 4th of July parade on Monday. Mostly kids with decorated bikes and adults with small ATVs pulling decorated kids wagons. Will probably use my M7. Jim
 
I'm also off to Arles tomorrow morning. Taking thirty rolls of APX100, some Portra, an M6 and a little Rollei, and lots of energy for walking round all the exhibition venues!
 
Today hunting sundials again with Kodak APS 400 in my Vectis S-1.
Tomorrow I will be at the lake of Zurich with an Ektar 100 in Hexar RF.
 
I'll be railfanning this weekend. Should be a few trains running. Bought a monopod for my SLR's. Got me a case of Rush Limbaugh's "Two if by Tea", my lounge chair, sunglasses, topo map book, film, cooler, I'm set.🙂

How do you like the Hexar RF?
Pros and Cons?

The VF magnification is small. The camera is heavy and seems to be well built. It offers AE and auto film advance at a reasonable cost.
 
Well, yesterday, I was able to take my bride out for coffee for the first time since her last two hospital stays. Met the proprietor and discussed my plans for using her small town for the next photo documentary. Left the coffee shop after a few cups of Guatemalan coffee and...Linda fell on the sidewalk.😱 I was, however, able to hold her and gently sat her down on the concrete so no injury occurred. This happens frequently but more so now because she is so frail and the effects of the stroke.

So, having to stay in close today (Saturday), and work on finalizing my current documentary and set up appointments for the last several interviews next week. Got the old Nikon 4004s ready for fireworks with Sensia 100 and Velvia 50 waiting in the wings. No Leica fun for awhile as I need to finish the documentary with the remaining frames on both rolls already used in both cameras.

Other'n that, too hot to do anything, even with the Nikkormat or XA. Too hot to cut grass. Too hot to finish repairs on the fence. Bleh. All the kids and grandkids are on vaction but we can't afford to go anywhere so I am very bored and miserable.🙁 But taking my gear out of the bags, cleaning the bags, re-organizing and, yes, fondling a bit, sure helps. Maybe I should take up drinking....

I hope that your bride recovers with time.
When its so hot, outdoor photography becomes unpleasant and uncomfortable.
I often do not take a single outdoor photo on such hot days.

On Mother's Day, our son took us down to Orange Beach for a quick weekend at the in-law's condo. If I can talk him into doing it again, what's the possibility of having an impromptu RFF meet-up?😀
 
Orange Beach is close to Pensacola. That would be great.
Robin(Biker) lives around Pensacola, and sometimes Paul(Fish) is in Pensacola, like this weekend.
We may even have a surprise visitor from RFF to this region in July.

I started my "RF career" with a cheap Ricoh 500GX, just to check the pro and cons of RF patch metering (fixed lens 40mm/2.8). I did fall in love immediately with the RF approach and now I'm somehow bored of the optical SLR matte glass VF metering.

The Hexar RF is my first interchangeable RF. I like the VF with shutter speed information on the far left and the bright RF patch (I have no problem with glasses). At the moment I use only a CV 28/3.5 and this is why I am very fine with the magnification. Outside the 28mm frame the VF could still be used for a 24/25mm lens without separate VF.

The next lens will be a 50mm, which also shouldn't be a problem regarding the magnification. The frame area for 75 and 90 is indeed very small and for 135 not much more than the RF patch. I will give it a try with an inexpensive 90 or 135mm and if it doesn't work I will use it on a magnifying digital body (still thinking about: NEX-7? GXR-M? E-P3?) later on.

Yes, the camera is sturdy, heavy built but feels really good in my hands: I'm even thinking of a second body. I can only guess what the cons of the HRF could be: I don't see any for the moment. But I don't have another model for comparison...

Do you own a HRF too?
