Weekend Photography Plans: What are you up to?

Last weekend there was a camera expo in town which had a number of second hand sellers present so I stocked up on a few cheap but good vintage lenses.

One was a Carl Zeiss Jena Triotar 135mm f4 which required a good deal of renovation. That work has been done and it is now due for some serious field testing.

But so are some of the others I bought.
A Vivitar 70-210 f3.5 which is highly rated but is a MONSTER lens given it is not quite an f2.8.
Also a Canon FDn 35-105mm f3.5-4.5
A Pentaflex Color 50mm f2.8 and a Domiplan 50mm f2.8 (turns out they are the same lens- just rebadged....)
And a Pentacon auto 50mm f1.8.

All of the above will get a run over the next few days
 
Nothing Really,
my wife has been hospitalized since 2 weeks ago
No dismission is insight, and whatever will be the outcome, I guess that's the end of my photographic activity.
I had put a roll of provia in my M5 before the accident. No photo and no return to film
The best I can hope is to resume my attempt to scan my film archive

It is weekend again!
Today, I took with me one of my daughters to a cafe in downtown Pensacola. The weather was just awesome. Sunshine with a cool breeze. I had with me my camera bag (with 3 Leica cameras), but I only used the M8.

I sometimes go to the Farmer's Market in downtown Pensacola (on Saturdays), and I buy some baked goodies from some gentleman (with a German sounding last name). Today, I had with me my M8 that I just got back a couple of days ago from Leica NJ, and this gentleman commented on how beautiful the M8 is. Then he commented on having used a Zeiss Ikon in 1958 in the war. I asked him if it was a Contax, and he said Yes. I told him that I wanted to show him a really beautiful Leica (my M3), to which he said "even more beautiful than this one"?

I am planning to take with me my Contax IIa to the next Farmer's Market, and I will ask the man if he had some war images he can share with me. It is so nice to "run into" such RF users in places you would not expect.

I just thought to share this with you.

With my current job, my "weekends" are usually Tuesday and Wednesday but I fortuitously have today off. And, I've not shot any 35mm film in a very long time.
So, I'll be spending some time out and about with this today.

Well, that plan may not have worked out as well as I hoped...
I'd not used that Zorki in quite a while and after I loaded the film, I noticed that the vertical alignment for the rangefinder is seriously out.:bang:
Horizontal seems to be good, the scale on the lens is lining up with the correct distance, apparently, so I'm hopeful about the film I shot today.
I decided to use the time I had to make some photos rather than start messing with the camera--if nothing else I had a nice walk in the woods.

On Friday I learned of a small concert taking place Saturday evening showcasing a couple of local acoustic blues guitarists to be held at a vintage guitar shop that also features a small bar with beer on tap. Lighting in this small venue is very dim so I thought it might be a chance to try out the Ilford Delta 3200 I had purchased a while back. Saturday rolled around and I spent some time wandering down and back along a busy street near my neighborhood to complete the use of a roll of Ilford HP5 Plus 400 I had in my camera. (I'm experimenting with a number of different film types to re-familiarize myself with them as I try to figure out what my current preferences are.) Yesterday afternoon featured the typical gray, drizzly weather Portland is known for. I'm hopeful that this walk netted me one or more interesting images.

Shooting at the vintage guitar bar ended up being much more difficult than I imagined as there was even less light available than I had anticipated. I'm not sure if any of those shots will turn out decently or not, but I still had a great evening listening to music I enjoy. Years ago before giving up the active pursuit of photography I would often feel that my attempt to capture moments in time with a camera were interrupting my enjoyment of whatever it was that I was trying to document. I'm happy to report that was not the case yesterday evening. Whether or not any of my images turn out okay, I really enjoyed myself. I had a couple of people ask if I was a professional photographer. I'm happy to report that I was successful in holding back my laughter as I explained that I was just a guy with a film camera. The more I continue to shoot during my re-entry into photography the greater my desire to begin developing my own film.
 
It is a cold Saturday morning in Pensacola. My camera bag is packed and ready. On such cold days the sunsets are awesome.
What are you doing this weekend?
 
Wet foggy days here...it could be ideal for some moody photos...not sure....maybe better staying home in front of a cup of tea and a cake...

I am at a cafe in downtown Pensacola for some coffee and a toasted bagel. A Spartan break. Next, I will take some photos outside Joe Patti’s Seafood. Maybe there will be some birds waiting to model for me?
 
We had our first big snow event of the season, with about four inches of snow falling last night. Too early for me to be dealing with snow, so I’ll spend most of the weekend inside processing the several rolls of B&W film I shot last weekend (and hoping the snow melts).

Went out with the M10 on saturday but took only one photo which absolutely I did not like!
So as you can see in the gallery here on sunday I prefer to stay home...

PS: but I put one film in the M7 and one in the Rollei 35...
