Weekend roll call.. What's on the slate for this weekend?

Life... that's what's up. Hopefully I can shoot a little in between everything else.

North Carolina is open for fishing? Wow. I'm envious.

my plans.... dealing with and shoveling about 40cm/16in of snow...

My part of NC hasn't seen a single snowflake since Dec 26, 2004 (east of Raleigh).

On the other hand, I'm in MI, and I've been shoveling like crazy. They say we got as much as 70 inches of snow in some parts of the county so far this winter. I guess we dodged a bullet for this weekend - we were supposed to get another 10 inches.

For me, a week in Cyprus. That should help the workflow.
What to take? Oh, what to take?

Now down to folding Isolette for 6x6 Ilford SFX and HP5+ work. Got the Isolette II Solinar especially to pack in rucsack, so that (if it returns good images this time) it can always be there.
Must take the new toy (D70s), sorry.....colour work needed to work towards CPAGB/DPAGB.
And the most difficult, do I need a 35mm with more B&W film? Well I can't justify taking the Bessa r2, but I think that I can persuade my wife to carry the XA2 and a few rolls.
I know it's a bit rough, but, I can take some of the rough with the smooth....

About one and half acres of grass to mow in the top paddock .... how Aussie does that sound? :p

Top paddock, eh? So you live at the track, or what? And why do you have to cut the grass in the dead of winter?

No offense, Bruce, just havin a good larff. And yes, life in Bris-bun sounds pretty darn Aussie.

Here in the California Delta Region (halfway between San Francisco and Sacramento), it's a beautiful sunny day with wispy clouds scattered around the blue sky. The hills are green and the mustard is in bloom, as are the California poppies, so there are large vivid patches of gold and yellow throughout the spring green grass.

So I just came back from shooting some of the wilderness hills around here: Yashica Mat 124G; Fujicolor Pro 400H; lens hood but no filter; exposure based on experience--1/250 at either f/11 or f/16, depending on scene's balance of sun and shade. The film will go out to a Fuji lab via a local drug store chain for "develop only," as I will scan and print the negs when I can find the time. I usually shoot Tri-X in the TLR, but this time of year I'm seduced by color.

I long for winter so the damned grass will stop growing ... and speaking of mowing, not long after I posted yesterday the mower/slasher sheared a blade off when I hit a large rock in the long grass and shot it through the deck and put an end to the day's activities pronto. I now have a half mowed 'top paddock' :p

Keith ... I'm not crying for you and your grass. This was taken from my flat window two hours ago. The 'grid' is from the window screening material. We're at 40cm/16in and still it's falling. I'm going to be shovelling.... a lot!

found a battery for my new (to me) yashica, going to blow thru a test roll to see how it looks. also brought my half 17 in to the local camera shop to get their take on it, they think it's some broken spring and recommended another guy to do the work, though they guesstimated $150 worth of work so probably going to turn it into a paperweight.

I've seen snow once in my life ... in Nepal in the early nineties. We lived in it at altitude for about four days ... tents were pitched in it and we slept on it. I came back to Oz with minor frostbite on my toes and a healthy respect for Canucks who don't do this by choice! :p

Spent a couple of hours on Saturday cleaning the darkroom and clearing out some space in my "studio".

Then developed 3 rolls of film from the Fuji 6x9.

Planning on a day in the dark as the weather here is not supposed to be nice.

I've got to admit, if I was 25 and fresh outta school, I'd give OZ a serious look. Awfully tempting and the people seem to know how to have a good time too!

BTW the snow is shovelled.. LaL, now the streets look like Olympic luge runs.

I like the 'graf' on the walls of your darkroom. That's a lot of paper and developers too.

Mostly I'm interested in what you got out of the Fuji. Pix or go home! j/k

Bill, I just got off the phone with a friend in Montreal. He told me his yard is 2 metres/6+feet under snow. His garage roof is buried under 130 cm/ 4 feet of snow. He spent Sunday shovelling it and only got 75 percent done. Crazy winter here.

GB .. as I write Bill things sound a lot nicer in the Carolinas.

Tell that to my wife. She's from NY originally and misses the snow. We can't wait to get the house sold and move the family up here with me. She can shovel, I told her. That went over well.
