Hello,

as you helped me a lot with the identification of my last weird lens: here is another one:

The lens mount diameter is somewhat about 46-47 mm and on the other side this adapter attaches to a Canon FD-mount body like the AE-1. As I bought it in Germany and it is Made in Germany it could be something German, but I can't figure out what.

Thank you!

It's Novoflex. Yes, German.

The older Novoflex firm some decades ago also cooperated with Leitz (or they still do it, IDK?), at least they once made e.g. the bellows for Leica M, Leicaflex and probably even Leica R.

The Novoflex code for these lens-to-camera adapters is "XXX" for the camera body + "A". So CAN signifies the Canonflex R/FL/FD breach mount. The A signifies the Novoflex-specific breach mount used for Super Rapid Follow Focus C and D grips (PIGRIFF-C and PIGRIFF-D) and for some Novoflex bellows. The code for Nikon would be NIKA. These adapters are still made.

For reference the original Follow Focus grip is PIGRIFF and the second Follow Focus grip series is PIGRIFF-B. Each of these two series use totally different adapters.

If you have never used a Follow Focus lens, they are a real pleasure to use. Just squeeze the grip to focus. Even though the original PIGRIFF was first made in the 1950's I have never found one of these grips that does not work perfectly.
