Jorge made the decision this morning based on the thread and posts you mention to ban Frank. His posts were profane and insulting.

I deleted the thread this morning as well as another. There is no room here for attacks or retaliations. There is no need for threads containing these to remain in place.

I know that many will regret this has ended this way, unfortunately there was little other choice.

Thank you. I agree completely with the thread deletion, and trust yours and the other moderators judgement in such matters, I was just curious. Back to RFF's normal proceedings...

now, which is the sharpest lens ever made? 😀 (ok, was that too much?)

I think several polls are in order to determine the ultimate answer to this important question. 😀
And, of course, a good 'ol Leitz vs. Zeiss slugfest. :bang:

I'm so confused! Is Frank G. back or gone? 😕 😕 😕

frank g is gone.

when jorge saw the post from last night he banned frank g.

it was evaluated on the basis of language and insulting comments directed at some other members of rff.

personally, i am sad to see him gone but his actions were not representative of what we expect here.

I hate it when this happens, especialy since I was under the impression that we as a comunity could get the best out of each other.

It might be a good idea to lock the thread where profanity and insults are spoken, that lead to a member's ban, and leave it, just for a day or 2, as an example of what is not tolerated and what led to the ban. Humans are naturally curious and want to know the details, and we can learn from examples of bad behaviour, how not to behavave, and vice versa. In addition, speculation, often wildly incorrect speculation, is simply caused by a lack of accurate information. Leaving a "bad" thread for a day or 2 (locked) would therefore be helpful, in my opinion.

Not fair to those attacked.

I don't disagee, but personal attacks are a waist of space.

All experiences/situations can be used as learning opportunities if we choose to use them as such. Again, harmful speculation in the absence of the facts/truth is, well, harmful. 🙂

It becomes clearer and clearer and clearer ..... and then all of a sudden it fades away ....

by the was Jorge is your new avatar a picture Lyle Lovett .... if it ain't it sure looks like Lyle

Wow. I must have missed an unpleasant thread with unacceptable language and motives. I guess, I did.

I hope that this website stays as firendly as it has been.

I did not even realize Frank was gone. Now Frank is back, and this is good.

Frank G is gone.

(I've never left.)

I couldn't possibly disagree any more and Jorge and the moderators here know my feelings on this and it will be my only comment here on it as I don't intend to spend many minutes of my life on this - but Jorge, et al - I would like to make this comment.

FrankG's post contained both extremely vulgar language as well as straight out lies. By locking a thread like that;
a) the victims of it (i.e. the people that FrankG decided to spew his venom on) have no chance to defend themselves, and
b) why would you possibly want to leave something like that on your site for even five seconds when you have paying sponsors that needs to be associated with pretty clean forums and even, for that matter, potentially minors reading posts here.

FrankG got his kicks from pissing people off and was very quick with pulling out four-letter words and even threats (anyone who was active on the Leica forum back then may remember).

It was his behaviour on Nikonians (where he got kicked off), it was his behaviour on Photo.net (where he got kicked off) and it was his behaviour here (and he is kicked off).

I'm surprised and even partly disgusted at seeing the 'Frank's a good guy', 'we'll miss you Frank' posts here. For those of us that saw Frank's other side those comments are unbelievable to read.

Personally, I'm thrilled he is gone and I'll be damned if I'm not allowed to say so.

Enough said and my first and last two cents.

No Raid, Frank is gone again. At least I think that is what has happened. But it appears he is online right now..... aw hell, I give up. I can't figure it out anymore. It is my prediction that Frank will become a new Messiah of RRF. Once self-banished, he arose again only to be banished once again.

Raid,
If I've followed this correctly, I think he left, erased everything he ever posted, returned, then got banned. There had been a thread about his departure in which folks were discussing the "tao of Frank," for want of a better term. It perhaps is the offending (and deleted) thread which led to his being banned by Jorge, if Frank weighed in on the subject of himself after returning.
