Hello everyone!

I found your forum very attractive and informative. Although not beeing an active camera-user, I'm interested in soviet camera collecting for a years. Inside my new website you'll find a lot of soviet cameras as well as interesting soviet camera books, accessories etc.

Pleasure to enter your forum and welcome to my website www.sovietcams.com!

your fed2 information doesnt match up to anny other website. I classed mine as a 2(e) but according to your site its a 2(c) ??

Hi! I quoted J.Ryshkov book "Brief History of Soviet Cameras 1929-1991", 1993 in Fed-2 classification + Princelle. All the Fed-2 sources I found in www had quite different classification as well. Who can say the truth?

Thankyou - very nicely presented, and no doubt the site took a great deal of work.

It's a shame to spoil it, so in the interests of accuracy I would just like to make one point: the Narciss is not a KGB spy camera - it is an endoscopy camera for medical use, subsequently sold on the general market as better clinical cameras were available.

People claim almost everything was "a Russian Spy Camera" - including the FED 5 :D, so its best to squash the legends!

All the best, Ian

Ya sir, a nice site indeed. My 1960ish FED 2 is a 2d according to Princelle. While Jim Blazik on the other hand classifies it as a FED 2e. It doesn't matter who is correct, as I like the camera.

Hello Ian!

Thank you for your comment. I obviously know that Narciss is far away from spy cameras (I never said it's KGB camera). Few cameras due to its small size found place in spy camera section. I stopped myself to place prewar Liliput and Maliutka cameras into the mention section after understanding that soviet pioniers were too young to be a spies.

Best Regards, Aidas

Interesting resource Aidas!

Just a quick note, "fotolubitel" is perhaps better translated as "photography amateur".

Thank you all for compliments and useful references you gave me!
Although my time to spend it with www.SovietCams.com is so limited, I'll try to develope it soon. Any further suggestions are welcome!

Best Regards,

Aidas
