...but damn, do I need a film scanner 🙂.

The negs look sharper than the scans, but I'm using a flatbed through my negative holding sheet thingy (eh, who needs technical terms 🙂 ). I need a new scanner 🙁

The story: I wanted a 120 camera of some kind, so I wander down to the local junk shop with $50 in my wallet. I dig through some cameras (there is a Minolta Hi-Matic E there I might go back for), and all I found was this Argus Matchmatic. The lens seems to be busted (the aperture ring does not turn the aperture, unless I pull the ring out about 3mm from the barrel 😱), and there's some fungus, but it works. I got some of the Forest Green Moroccan leatherette from CameraLeather and soaked the shutter speed gears in gasoline for an hour. Now, it works... YAAAAAY!

I know, that's the most excited anyone has ever gotten over an Argus that was over the age of, say, 12, but still... hehe.

Nice looking camera! The photos are really neat as they have that vintage look....would love to see some more images posted!🙂

Two more... the second shows one of the biggest "problems" with the C3 Matchmatic... after not having a real aperture or shutter speed scale... I was attempting to take a pic of the place I bought it at, but as you see, I was successful at least one too many times.

That's the beauty of old gear; you can try things you'd never think of with expensive stuff. Love it...

Ah, another convert to the enjoyable masochism that is Brick ownership! I must confess to relying on bright days and sunny err... err... fastest and smallest for the shutter and aperture. It's that little mushroom headed handle you need to remember for the double exposures - good to get into the habit of always winding on - whether immediately before or after the shot is up to you, so long as you do the same every time.

Your first shot from the brick takes me back a bit. We used to wire the control boxes such as you show in your photo. And since you're from the Southern Tier, I'm pretty sure I had my hands on that particular bungalow at one time or another when I worked in the Signal Repair Shop on Conrail in Columbus, OH.

Good to see the results from a decent scanner. But that's a pretty rad retro look on the first two. My biggest prblem with the C-3 is getting my finger out of the way of the shutter lever after releasing the plunger. You get a lot of weird effects that way.

Now you can pick up a 35mm lens and viewfinder on eBay that will draw as much attention as a vintage Leica with damn near the same image quality. ... to say nothing about the money still in your pocket.
