'press stuff' really but a notch for the career at least.

Congrats John!
I would like to ask: the second and third link show two pictures of a sign, and are pretty similar. Is it usual to submit two good but similar images?
I understand the logic of offering the choice to journals that will probably choose what suits them more for illustrative purposes, and it's quite different from presenting a project..

well firstly, thank you folks for the kudos.

Michael - press is formulaic really. once you understand it you pretty much know what they will run. sometimes they will surprise you but mostly, pretty predictable.

remaining predictable myself, i submit somewhere between 5-10 with the average anywhere between 10-30. a few 'know they will run them' and a few frames with a little more 'character'.

and now for the million dollar question... the pictures in question were from a super battered Sony A900 and 24mm prime.

not to settle with bucking one angle i usually carry two bodies and two lenses. one video capable with a mic. a 24/28 and a 50. sometimes it's a hasselblad 501 with 50mm and leaf digital back, soon to be a SWC! i also pack a pair of 285hv units with triggers. The MArs Volta on the headphones and away i go!

you can see some of the 285 set up on my site in the gallery/stories/electro motive

thanx again for the kind comments folks, a tough crowd here.
