My weird meter needle just hit the peg.

The potential for disaster would seem to be very high - one slip during the conversion and two great lenses could be trashed. It would make more sense (to me anyway) to develop a motorized converter instead, not that I would want one.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Plus taking two great lenses out of action for their respective camera from circulation.

And there are some telltale signs that this has already happened.. The aperture range on the Contax aperture ring doesn't match the aperture range of the 35/2; sloppy! The helicoid extension of a 28 is less than that required by a 35.. good luck getting it to focus close...two great lenses could be trashed..

@pvdhaar, i don't think their customers really care about that. it's all about AF AF AF nowadays. Since Leica got such a rep some would even think of motorizing these great lenses just in order to get AF since that's what most ppl want anyway. And as long as it's generates money, they won't care for anything else.

How else would you introduce a motor drive into a Leica R/F lens? Or produce a self-driving adapter without incurring huge development costs?
This actually seems like a pretty sane approach.

This is just a prototype to prove concept.....ie, an AF adaptor for leica M lenses used on NEX. As such it's an excellent idea that many people here will certainly want to own once it's available and well priced.

I hate the thought of mutiliating M lenses, but I also think 35mm and 50mm are too tight for walk around lenses with the crop factor on the NEX.
