Werramatic, First Film

I bought a Werramatic complete with three lenses from the classifieds here...my first interchangeable lens rangefinder.

I took it up on a camping trip last weekend, figuring to play a bit. Ends up, I'd neglected to charge the batteries for my DSLR. My primary battery went dead and the back up was good just long enough to format a card.

So, mechanical camera to the rescue. These were metered with the Werra's 50 year old selenium meter.

Great shots, Steve. You habve a great eye for scenics. The Werra is just a tool and in your hands a very good one. What lens(es) did you use for those shots.

Steve, I had the Werra 3 + three lenses until 2001, a BIG regret that I sold it.
they are superb cameras, generally very reliable. If the self timer does not work first time, ignore it, and don't try to use it again. It can jam the shutter, just not worth it. Otherwise the Prestor shutter is reliable, and a very ingenious design.
The standard Tessar on mine was incredibly sharp, the TeleCardinar excellent also.
The only camera made by the Zeiss Jena lens factory after the war.
you are a lucky man. filters for the standard lens can be hard to find as they are an odd size, 37.5 I think. Try not to lose the lens hood and cap, that will halve the value of the camera!!
Mine was a nice shade of green leather, with matching leather bands on the tele and W/A !!

The shot looking up through the aspens was with the Tessar 50mm. The other 3 were with the Flektogon 35mm.

I wish I had a better eye for people and street shots...that's really what I wanted rangefinders for...and here I find myself shooting scenics! 😱

I'm now pretty sure it's a werramatic, of the earlier variety. Not the one pictured on the Kolmp web site.
I have no pictures at this point, but I'll get around to it.

At the last Toronto RFF meet, Mickey had a Werra (I don't know what model) that I got to handle ... it felt really nice, and I liked it very much. Not a good thing to handle something like that ... very GAS inducing.
