I have a 50mm Summilux Pre-ASPH that I like very much, and I want to get a 28mm to pair with it. I briefly had an Elmarit v. IV that I liked, but it had an issue, so I returned it. So, my question is this: what 28mm lenses out there match the rendering of the 50mm Summilux. If I decide I want a modern lens, the choices abound--Summicron ASPH, Elmarit ASPH, etc, but what will give me images with the same or similar feel as the lux? Perhaps an Ultron 1.9? I'm not too worried about the aperture, although I probably wouldn't want to go slower than abut f/2.8. Thanks!

I used the 1.9 Ultron side by side a v2 Summilux and they match very well in terms of bokeh and contrast.
The Summilux distorts more, I didn't mind.

i was influenced to buy the version 3 of the 28 elmarit by an article entitled 'in praise of the mandler lenses' by adan on another forum. i'm assuming that the pre-asph summilux, like the pre-asph 50 summicron, may also be from the mandler era at leitz canada. if that's true, then there should be a strong family resemblance in the images taken by both.
