...that was on 21st August. There was a medieval festival (www.soesterfehde.de sorry no english version available) in my hometown. It was the first festival of this kind and it was held in remembrance of a „war“ between my hometown and it's former „boss“ the archbishop of cologne. They told him to f*** himself and that they wanted to join another lord for protection. Well that happened from 1444 to 1449.
Fast forward to modern times. This reenactment took place throughout the city which has preserved some of it's medieval charm. Most of the wall surrounding the city is still intact and they used it as a campground for the reenactors. That was the place I focused on, because in the city it felt like eat...drink...souvenirs...rinse...repeat. Not my cup of tea. The best part about it was the camera. I borrowed my Dad's Rolleiflex (Tessar 3.5) and got me some film (Ektar 100 and Rollei Retro 400) and went out taking pictures. I had no lightmeter available and so it was sunny 16 all afternoon. What a nice way to start thinking of what you want to get and how to get it. It took me the whole afternoon to go through 4 rolls with opportunities left and right by the dozen. The people were very nice and it was wonderful talking to them. I got as many questions about the camera as they got about their hobby. Quite strange given that most of them were there to experience the reenactment. In more than one case the camera opened the door/tent for a more personal way of taking pictures. Comments like „that camera must be steam powered“ or „the camera fits the medieval setting quite nice“ were not uncommon and a welcome opportunity to chat for a while. Here are some of the pictures I made. I focused on two things that day. Documentary and capturing the feeling as good as I can (which may not be that much).
Any comment is very much appreciated and if you feel you can share some thoughts that would help me improve, please do so. The B/W pictures were developed with perceptol 1+1 for 20 minutes at 20°C. Unfortunately I rated the film as ISO400 not 250-320 so I had to do little adjustments while developing and with ps which I am not a fan of nor am I very good at. The Ektar was developed by a local store and scanned by me using an Epson V700. They came out blueish in the shadows to say the least. Any help with scanning this film on my Epson?

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy 'em.

I am faaaar from a photoshop wiz but I also have a v700 notice the same thing with ektar. A quick fix for the blue cast is:

ADJUSTMENTS Menu->MATCHCOLOR->NEUTRALIZE. Then, do a levels adjustment.

Cheers

Picture Window Pro, a sophisticated photo editor developed by the architect of Lotus 123, has a cast tool called color balance that works well also. I have attached some before and after shots. the images are unsharpened or modified in any other way. Roger Hicks told me that the blue cast results from overexposure. These were a test shot after receiving my CLA'd Rollei MX-EVS back from Krikor.

In my case the overexposure was exttreme. :-(

I have no other comments on the color-correction other than it's easier to tackle those in Lightroom or similar applications. But I just want to comment that the picture above is really beautiful :)
