what a workhorse-- 240 frames huge a Leica 1 no---

It is a reporter-Leica based on a Leica III (pre war). The German army used them in the war with an electric motordrive feed by the accus of their motorcycles. They are very rare and worth a fortune. They use huge filmcassettes for 250 exposures.
This one is in bad condition, but it is definitely worth the trouble to restore the camera I would say.

Erik.

the lens can be changed & its in the French alps near Switzerland only cows flays and grass
Might not be so expensive????
Unless someone says its rare..it has a used case in that region it might have been the local camera shop owner who would only develop the film when 250 exposures had been sold

They are mean and stupid its a region with snow for 9 months and freezing for two one month its very hot Hateful place

Hi,

It's just a Leica 250, which was a model III with the body/case etc modified to take a bigger magazine each side, as Erik said. Used for science and so on. It took about 33ft of film (probably 10m) and a little under a thousand were made from the early or mid 30's. Discontinued in the early to mid 40's.

When a model III body cost UKP £22 in 1936 they (body & two giant spools but no lens) cost a little over £39...

They turn up for sale from time to time, even on ebay.

They're moderately rare but I've seen several for sale. Actuay almost bought one for investment a few years ago. They're 4 on eBay right now ranging from $7450 for a super clean black GG to around $9500 for a well used GG. The $7500 price is about right.

In the 70's a local guy in my town wanted to trade one complete GG and a 90% complete FF for some Leicaflex gear I was selling and like an idiot I didn't do it. Leica collecting wasn't popular and I didn't know they would clime in value.

There were two models, the FF and GG. I don't remember the differences.

KEH has a rare Leica at the moment. It's a model B compur rim set. It's $6200 and isn't a bad price. I've only seen one other but know there were a few hundred dial and rim set produced.

I pondered buying this during KEH's last "15% off" sale but passed. Half the savings would have been given back in sales tax (they charge for California). It didn't seem to be a good investment. Model B's were a curious transitional camera with little demand now as then.

im sure an email offer of 500€ and he would accept

Problem is to know ---you would have to ask him what sort of price he is looking for--to offer 500€ to people up there is to invite a demand for more,if 500€ is way more than he thinks he might get he will ask EVEN more as it MUST have value

As its Leica with lens he may think its 250€ for the worn out 50mm f3.5 Elmar and 199€ for the odd body
