I found this adapter? in a box of stuff from an estate.
I thought it may be an M42 to Pentax K mount, but it's not.
It does fit the M42
Anyone have an idea what it's for??
This is a bit of a guess, but my first inclination is that it looks to me possibly like an adapter for one of the weird older mounts like Exakta. M42 was a common lens mount in Europe at that time and so was Exakta. See this image here - looks similar
Other images and text shown on the same site might also suggest some similarities to Konika and even more likely Mamiya which according to the site started its 35mm range of cameras with M42 then moved to its own proprietary bayonet mount - hence and adapter for M42 to Mamiya bayonet would make sense. But the truth is a lot of early bayonet lenses had a somewhat similar configuration (e.g 3 bayonet tabs) to the one shown in your photos. And there are similarities to the back of the Tamron Adaptall lens shown lower down. I will leave it to you and those more knowledgeable than me to make your own mind up. See here
Peter,
Thanks very much for your correct reply:

I tried it on an old Konica Autoflex A and it fits perfectly.

Marcelo,
Thanks for your reply.
My adapter sure does look very similar to the one in the link .
Now I'm not sure if it's an adapter for Konica or Rollei. Are they the same mount?
I don't have a Rollei to try it on.
