What are those lines?

After the first test roll from my newly CLAd M3 came out great, I was surprised to see these lines came out on the second roll. I don't think it was fogging from rewind since my previous experience with it in my Canon 7 tends to show wavy lines (the canon's shutter did not return to rest position causing the fogging). What do you think caused this. Thanks.

Looks like either a processing error or your film is getting scratched, look at the negative to see if it is a scratch. Do you bulk load? Thats one way the film could be getting scratched. Is it on every frame or just some of them?

There is a scratch down the center and a multitude of uneven density lines.

Check the film canister lips for debris. Never squeegee or wipe film. Something could be on the pressure plate or inside the camera.

What about the broad streaks? Sure this is light struck somwwhere. Do a test roll at various speeds. Rewind half with the lens cap in place.

Pressure can cause film to react also.

Thank you very much for your suggestions. All the frames of the roll contained these streaks. I did not cap my lens on rewind since the place was pretty dark (this was a Neopan 400 pushed to 1600) but I will do some testing on this. How will I test the camera/pressure plate for something that causes the scratching?

Just run your finger over the plate and any other place the film might touch. You can feel anything wrong.

Just do your own processing. It is not hard. At least you know where the film has been and possible causes.

Another trick is to run part of the film thru one camera, then the bal thru another. If the defect(s) run the entire length, it is processing.

Correct me if I am wrong. Scratches from any source would cause a lighter area on the negative, and a darker area on the print. That would seem to elimate scratches. I am inclined to think processing or scanning.
