Lorries ploughing up the incline on the road to Rome, cicada, rodine, a child running though the village, fridge humming. dog barking, a cock crowing, some agricultural machinery rattling out of sight...
Sitting here with my wife and daughter, at the end of a beautiful Sunday here in the Bay Area, listening to a James Taylor/Carol King concert on our local public television station. Amazing music from a era & movement about generosity, inclusion, and love of all peoples. On public-supported non-commercial TV... sweet!
Schumann Symphonic Etudes, Sviatoslav Richter. A cheap label, Regis, $9.95, but a stupendous recording from 1971. Recently listened to some mediocre playing of Kreisleriana on Philips, which made this recording of Richter in his prime all the more rewarding.
