What are you listening to at the moment?

I'm listening to "Music for Cats". My wife found this on the internet. It's music for.... cats. The researchers who developed this music explain how cats prefer higher frequencies and certain rhythmic frequencies, especially those like purring. The music is not awful. My cat thoroughly [!] enjoys it. The researchers who developed the music found very significant relaxation in cats who listen to it. My cat sure does.
I used to have a cat that absolutely loved piano music. So much that every time my son or wife sat down to play our piano, he would melt on the back of our easy chair and just fully drift into complete bliss. He also seemed to like jazz from the 50s-60s.....but not Miles' acid days....none of us particularly liked that.

Sadly, that dog passed away not too long ago.

This song was used in the end credit of 'Card Captor Sakura The Movie' (Japanese Anime), the song and lyrics writer Kaitani Naomi 皆谷尚美 was only 21 at the time...

She is also the singer of the song; 'The Street far Away' /
遠いこの街で... very moving, beautiful song...

'I never Forget, how fast I can, beating the wind on my Bike,
Going as far as i Want...' ('the Street Far Away' by Kaitani Naomi)

I never thought I would see someone talking about Card Captor Sakura on RFF! This is blowing my mind.

The other day, I was listening to the soundtrack to the anime Vampire Princess Miyu, by the legendary Japanese soundtrack composer Kenji Kawai. Kenji has composed the scores of dozens of anime, TV shows, video games and movies like the classic Hong Kong action movie Ip Man. The soundtrack to Miyu is atmospheric and beautiful, involving synths, piano, bass and traditional Japanese instruments.

Right now, I'm listening to some of this. The first track is especially captivating, listen with headphones when you have a quiet moment alone.

"Jazz Goes to Junior College Live" by Dave Brubeck Quartet" powered by a Bottlehead Seductor amplifier.

"These Foolish Things" in that album still gets me. A great and under appreciated album. One of Brubeck's better ones.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3SEW63LsaM A behind-the-scenes look into the recording sessions of West Side Story with Kiri Te Kanawa (Maria), José Carreras (Tony), Tatiana Troyanos (Anita), and Kurt Ollmann (Riff), conducted by Leonard Bernstein. 1984.

Kiri Te Kanawa! OMG what a lovely voice! Especially when she was young. Makes me wanna dig through my CDs and listen to her again.
