What are you listening to at the moment?

Been in a modern classical mood recently. Gidon Kremer playing Philip Glass's "Violin Concerto Number 1" with Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Christoph von Dohnanyi.

YT has the concerto in pieces, by movements--no performance. Not recommended. I hate when it does that. Just listen to the damn recording. (There is a YT performance video of the complete concerto by the MSU Symphony Orchestra with Yvonne Lam as the soloist. I haven't heard that.)

I've just been listening to Jerome Sabbagh's latest album "Vintage".

Given the price of LPs these days I rarely buy them any more. Sabbagh's LP was an exception. The vast majority of LPs produced today contain music that has been digitized at some point during the recording/mixing/mastering chain. Sabbagh is a NYC-based tenor sax player who went to great lengths to see that his last two LPs were entirely analog. Making a record this way in this day and age doesn't come cheap and Sabbagh had to turn to crowdfunding to make it happen. However, this work has been so well received that he is now in the process of starting his own record label in order to help other artists make AAA LPs. While I appreciate his story, it wouldn't matter much if I didn't enjoy his music. Thankfully I do, very much so.

lot of youtubers used this song for their inspired image montage...

'Space Song' by Beach House, an American ( Duo ) band, labeled 'Dream Pop', it is a very Good song

even better is the youtuber put up 'Whispering Star' images for the song, a 2015 B&W movie directed by Sono Sion 園 子溫, (if you've seen his 'Cold Fish'/ mass murder in a tropical fish shop) you know Mr. Sono is wild, wilder than David Lynch...

'Whispering Star' is about Ms Suzuki, an inter-star package delivery woman in her own space ship... ( btw, Ms Suzuki is Kakurasaka Megumi, Mr. Sono's real wife )

'Space Song', Beach House

i've replaced NHT to Andrew Jone's (US Pioneer) center speakers...sounds great
