As I write I am listening to Jack Thompson, Australian actor reading "Clancy of the Overflow" by AB (Banjo) Paterson at the 2012 Screen Music Awards. Backed by an orchestra this reading is absolutely brilliant, funny, poignant and moving. The words "And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended, And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars." Wow what a word picture that paints. I can see it in my mind's eye.

Pure Australiana. It connects me with my Australian roots and makes me think of my forebears who came here to create a nation.
