Interesting. Our local classical music station plays his works quite often in rotation; The Lark Ascending most recently.


For those who don't know, his first name is pronounced "Raif":

The Lark Ascending is particularly beautiful and lyrical. Love it!. I had not thought about the pronunciation of Ralph Vaughan Williams before. But I should have realized as it is common in England to pronounce the name Ralph as Raif. Its the way for example that Ralph Fiennes' (the actors) name is pronounced. Interesting tidbit! Ralph Fiennes and brother Joseph Fiennes are cousins to famous English explorer and adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Even more interesting (to me that is) Ralph Fiennes is great-great-grandson of Frederick Benjamin Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 16th Baron Saye and Sele. (Its an old. old Norman name.)
 
'Sailor Suit and Machine Gun' (1981) is no doubt an iconic movie that made Ms Yakushimaru (17 at the time) a big star, She also sang the

same title song in the movie that becomes a big hit.

The Latest remake was in 2016, new star Hashimoto Kanna, 16 at the time aslo sang the

title song

the original song was titled 'In Dreaming 夢之途中' by Kisugi Takao

the song quality is super, nice MV, the last shot lasted 1' 15'' on Ms Hashimoto....just great

i'll find the 1981 version later, this is a very importing song
