What are you listening to at the moment?

My listening today is a proper reflection of just how varied my musical tastes are. I’m currently listening to the Beastie Boys album “Check Your Head” as I am getting ready to cue up the new album by the NYC-based saxophonist Jerome Sabbagh titled “Heart” which just arrived in the mail.

Not only do I really enjoy Sabbagh’s playing, but I also appreciate the fact that he goes to great effort to ensure that his LPs are totally analog (recorded, mixed, and mastered without ever being converted to digital). In fact, Sabbagh has created his own record label “Analog Tone Factory”, whose purpose is to create all analog recordings — both LPs and reel to reel tapes from a variety of artists (though they also offer CDs and hi-resolution digital files for those who prefer those formats). This is not unlike Pentax or MiNT producing film cameras in this day and age. That said, I’m not a format warrior — in addition to my LPs, I also enjoy listening to CDs, streaming sources, and from time to time even cassettes. But given that the vast majority of LPs contain music that has been digitized, I will admit that I am somewhat surprised that so many people are willing to pay what they do for records these days while going on and on about analog sound. Once again, the parallels between photography and music reproduction are seemingly endless.

The stadium played 'Test Schedule 3', '科目三' dance song, a strangely very popular song for a 2.5 mins song and dance in China Etc ( Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore...) Area,

'TS 3' is actually a pop song named 'Laughing While Going Thru my Adventure in the China Area' '一笑 江湖'...

After China beats US Women Valley Ball Paris 2024...TS3 was on;

After looking at today's news feed, I felt the need for some sanity. So, of course, I turned to Firesign Theatre's Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me the Pliers! Ah, the Android Sisters performing the Porgy Tirebiter song.... Pure bliss!
 
i didn't pay for the Paris Olympic service, so can only 'listen' to audio only live event on Youtube... well, American NBC put out part of this match just a few hours after
the match,

You have to pay to watch the Olympics where you are? In Australia, the Olympics are broadcast by major network Channel 9, and available for free on the 9Now app. You don't have an equivalent?

Inspired by @Dogman I'm now listening to my favourite of all the Brandenburgs, F major. Some of the most beautifully uplifting music I've ever heard. It helps that I discovered Bach when a young teenager, and became obsessed with Baroque music, so listening to it always takes me back to that special time in my life.

Yeah, but don't you love that urban sound? I moved to a small town outside Dallas a few years ago. The wife talked me into it. Ahem... :oops:
 
this is a great thread & have heard great stuff sampling here from good suggestions.. as amateur guitarist, i lean to playing classical music on my Roland elec. keyboard and using that for b/g, while improv rock electric guitar on my PRS (and vice vs) and it seems classical inspires in that way since it's all mounted in chords and logic.

Listening to Rory Gallagher who puts all that together in a wild way
