What are you listening to at the moment?

this song was written in 1982 for the memory of John Lennon from Elton John,

lyrics was by Bernie Taupin, a long time and close collaborator...

'Empty Garden' is not my most favorite EJ song, but a great song nevertheless...

this was 2007 in Madison Sq Garden, when EJ was 60...

'Empty Garden', Elton John

Right now I’m listening to a very confused and/or persistent woodpecker banging on the outside wall, which isn’t even wood (it’s Insulbrick).

I read an article recently (in The New Yorker, I think) that explained why woodpeckers go for stuff like Insulbrick. Apparently, some synthetic materials are more resonant than wood, and the woodpecker's drumming, a form of mating call, gets amplified more when they use those materials. Your woodpecker isn't confused, he's lonely! And annoying...

Addendum: My memory is bad. I didn't read it, but heard it on NPR, "All Things Considered".

Listening to an old Rhino Records CD, "Best of the Girl Groups", a compilation from the Sixties. It includes Little Eva and the Imperials performing "The Locomotion", which is the pinnacle of the Western musical tradition.

I thought it was "The Monster Mash". Oh well, wrong again.

Ah yes, I remember them both! But I'm partial to Del Shannon's "Runaway."

At least we are all in sync time-wise.
