What are you listening to at the moment?

Well, I set aside the time to listen to The Beatles "Past Masters" CD reissue disc 1.

I especially like John Lennon's vocals on "Yes it Is" If you wear red tonight...🎶

I followed that with "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" by Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass (remastered CD).

If you've never heard this album it's really worth a listen. If one is perhaps old enough to have listened to it back in the '60's but haven't listened to it in the last 50 years, please trust me, it's a lot better than you remember. Play it on a good sound system (not youtube on your PC) kick back with a glass of wine and enjoy! I did.

It was a nice time in my audio room (aka my bedroom; it has the best acoustics in the house) me, the music and all the happiness that goes with a good time dedicated to listening to the music I love.

Aside from shooting film again I bought my first turntable in 45 years and now have a few hundred records mostly 50’s and 60’s jazz. I still have a digital camera and CDs so can’t identify as non-binary yet.
 
PRS makes some beautiful guitars. Makes me want to buy one but I haven't played in 30 years and it would be like giving a Leica to a big dumb bull.

I'm listening to a reissued Japanese CD from 2017.

My father had this on vinyl LP when I was a kid. I played it over and over on our Zenith TV/Stereo console. When I saw the CD in a used record shop the other day I was delighted and bought it immediately. Playing it now brings back so many memories.

We had one of those Zenith consoles--color TV (oh, boy! those were kinda new at the time), stereo phonograph and AM/FM radio. 'Course the speakers in the stereo were about the size of the one in our old table radio and the TV and radio played through an entirely different, smaller speaker. Nice piece of furniture, however. The Panasonic portable TV I gave my mom looked nice sitting on top of it a few years later.
 
Our Zenith console had a black & white TV; we had that console forever. Solid wood cabinet, it weighed a ton. I remember watching the JFK funeral procession on it.

On a happier note, I clearly remember the day my father brought home our first color TV; there were cheers by all of us that day! It was a Motorola color TV. Watching "The Wild Wild West" and "Hogan's Heroes" in color... man!

Bruce Springsteen's "Land of Hope and Dreams" EP. Just released today, recorded live in Manchester on 5/14/2025. Hot off the downloader.

I read in the NY Times today that our president was calling The Boss several uncomplimentary names after Bruce's comments during the performance. Those comments are included on the recording and, gotta say, Bruce's comments seem totally accurate to me.

I was sad to hear that Rick Derringer had passed away. In his honor I'm listening to "Back in the U.S.A." off of the Edgar Winter Roadwork album. Rick's guitar playing on this track is (IMO) phenomenal... it really gets my heart pounding every time I listen to it; and I've been listening to it since I was in high school. RIP Rick, you will be missed.

My dad had the album, I must have played it hundreds of times in my childhood.
I bought a used LP and I missed the "hiss" in the middle of Lemon Tree 😀

I'm on a Pablo Cruise binge...
 
Jazz 24 online. It soothes my irritation when I'm doing post processing on the zillions of digital images I still insist on making.

There are times when I wonder why I need three to six images of everything I see and photograph.

Anyway, as for Jazz 24, someone clued me into it in this thread, a long time ago. I've been listening to it daily ever since.

Whoever it was did that, many thanks to you many years down the track...

Of course this labels me a period-piece, so what? As we all said in the'60s, the past is a blast.
