I have been immersing myself in the past. Specifically the 70s and 80s of California before it became the place you could check out of but never leave. Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Warren Zevon, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, etc. One of the things that I noticed was that guitarist Waddy Wachtel played on many of the recordings, giving them a touch of historical similarities and regional identity. Great stuff--if you like it. I do. I miss the days when musicians made the recordings, not producers and technicians.

@Dogman - one of my all-time favorite podcasts is rock ‘n’ roll archaeology. It’s sort of an audio documentary history of rock ‘n’ roll from its beginning. Below is a link to a relatively recent episode where they covered the late 70s and early 80s Southern California music scene. I really enjoyed this episode and I think you will too. Check it out.

In the Andes there is now something called Q-pop (Q for Quechua)
