I used 35 2.5 LTM and M for at least two years and now in the process of getting my third Cosina Voigtlander 35mm lens.
I've told you it's a trap! 🙂

The only two Leica mount lenses I use nowadays are the 50/2.5 and the 28/3.5. I own the 50/1.5 LTM and 35/2.5 C but don't use them and have owned the 21/4 Ltm and the 25/4 Ltm. The first two are the best of the bunch IMHO.

My favorites for the M Mount are the Nokton 50/1.1 and Color Skopar 50/2.5.

My favorites for LTM, and my overall favorites, are the Color Skopar 35/2.5, the Heliar 50/3.5 Collapsible and the Apo Lanthar 90/3.5.

Truthfully, they are all very nice lenses.

Every one I have tried has been surprisingly good. Even the much maligned 50mm f1.1. Which in my view is unfairly criticised because it's compared with the 10x more expensive Leica Noctilux. My real favourite though, is probably the 40mm f1.4. It renders beautifully and has pretty nice bokeh. This shot was made with it mounted on a Panasonic GF1

All the ones I've tried have been very good. I've never felt any need to "upgrade" to later models because they wouldn't make me a better photographer, and there are several where I have other lenses and feel no need for Voigtländer as well.

I sincerely wonder how many photographers have found that later "upgrades" (e.g. after the original 15/4.5) have turned them into better photographers or even given them better pictures unless they're into pixel peeping.

Cheers,

R.

Most of the second versions were produced for practical reasons.
The 15mm for example became an M mount and included a filter thread and larger shade.
The 50mm f1.5 got a closer focusing mount M mount from it's previous ltm body.

Will the addition of a filter give better results? With the digital M's yes it will.

I only own 1 Voightlander..the original 15mm ver. 1.0..I like the lens a lot for color..less for B&W..
Just a nice lil tiny 15...and I like the plastic finder too..came in handy in Nepal and India back in the day..film days that is..

Surprising to see just how good the LTM lenses are doing overall in this poll. Makes me feel less alone 😉

Of the 10 with more than 10%, only one M mount (the 1.5/50) features.

Could it be that just more people have experience with the ltm as they've been in the field longer, or do people genuinely prefer them due to their size, mount versatility, or other characteristics?

Consider the 4/21, three times as many people prefer the ltm over the m mount. Same with the 1.7/35 and the 4.5/15's. Interesting.

I don't think the 10/5.6M and 12/5.6M vIII have even been released yet. Perhaps the one voter for each has an early copy. Tom A?
I ticked all the LTM Skopars and ultra-wides. I just think they are marvellous little treasures, mechanically and optically.
I am so thankful for Cosina Voigtlander.

Have only really had a chance to play with 2 VC lenses, but 40mm f1.4 MC was my favorite and most successful one. Great combo when I had it on the M3 - sold both and regret it 'til this day.
