Of the 10 with more than 10%, only one M mount (the 1.5/50) features.

Could it be that just more people have experience with the ltm as they've been in the field longer, or do people genuinely prefer them due to their size, mount versatility, or other characteristics?

Consider the 4/21, three times as many people prefer the ltm over the m mount. Same with the 1.7/35 and the 4.5/15's. Interesting.

In my case I mostly bought the LTM versions when they were the only option, and I've seen no reason to upgrade to their later M-mount equivalents.

interesting distribution of votes here in this thread.

For what it's worth, I only voted for one lens, the 50/1.5M. Being a favorite focal length and offering a nice blend of speed, rendering, contrast, sharpness, and size\weight it was an easy choice for me.

The new 35 Ultron does look intriguing, especially after seeing Vince's wonderful shots with it. Also, the 15 VIII has always made me curious, but figure it would just be too wide knowing how much I generally end up cropping my 8mm I have on my fuji aps-c.
I also currently own a 28/2 Ultron that I quite like but find I dont use too often.

surely the majority of people here have never owned or used all of the CV lenses.
As such, people can only judge by specifications or examples of pictures taken with the lenses. People then use that information to help them select a lens to buy.

If someone likes a lens enough to actually buy it, there has to be a reason. One could argue that right there makes it a favorite, even without actually having any first hand experience with the lens.

So sure, this poll is somewhat biased by what people own, however, the fact that people do own this lens is an indicator that it was "favorite" enough from the CV lineup to have bought it in the first place.

having said that, i currently own a couple CV's, have played with some others, considered buying others, and the only ONE I voted for was noted above. Not surprisingly, it is one that i still own.

The theory above about LTM's taking more of the vote share compared to the newer M's I think is accurate as well. Considering this fact further, I think that makes the presence of a newer M lens really noteworthy since it's been on the market for a shorter time and at a relatively higher cost to buy today. Despite those handicaps it still ranks highly.

I wonder if this poll is more about what people own vs. favorites.

just my thoughts, and also which focal lengths one prefers
but:

In my case they are the same thing, having sold the ones I didn't like...

which makes me curious and think that turning around the question could be more revealing: which Voigtlander lens do you NOT like, and why?

I have 4.5/15, 4/21 and 4/25 and like them all, the 15 and 25 are LTM versions, the 21 is in M mount which has a bit bigger body but I prefer it's handling

I have four CV lenses and rather than just voting for what I have I forced myself to "narrow" down my choices to three (LoL): 15/4.5, 35/1.7 and 35/2.5, all LTM.

I noticed that LTM seems to have done better in this unscientific poll than their M lenses. I guess they've been around longer, though I really wish CV still produced some of them and had also kept producing the Bessa-R.

I took my time and voted only now, for 25 f4 M.

It is not just lens I own, but lens which opened new opportunities for me. Something which was growing on me and after getting of this lens it worked right away. I've had some CV lenses and going to try some, for practical reasons, but 25/4 M is the special one for me.

that is kinda the case with me since the 4/21 in ltm is the only CV lens I own. That being said, out of the whole lens line-up it was the one that was so appealing I went out and bought it brand new. It is for sure my favorite CV lens not only for its size, handling, build quality, and excellent optics, but also because there was no better alternative to it. Leitz, Ricoh, and Rokkor ltm 21s all cost too much for what they are, so the COLOR-SKOPAR was a no-brainer.

If I didn't already have more than enough camera lenses to keep me busy I would definitely look into getting the 1.5/50 ltm, and the 3.5/28. The build and ergos of the 3.5/28 are particularly appealing.

From a sales standpoint, the M mount Voigtlander lens have proved far more popular than the LTM versions
- that is why the LTM versions were discontinued.

Add to that many M mount lenses far outperform the LTM versions
and were never made in M mount versions ... such as

10/5.6 M - not released yet
12/5.6 M II - not released yet
15/4.5 M III
21/1.8 M
35/1.2 M only - both versions
35/1.7 M - much better than the LTM
40/1.4 M only
50/1.1 M only
50/1.5 M version - improved over LTM
75/1.8 M only

It would seem that we simply have a lot of LTM fans at RFF
which is strongly skewing the voting

Plus how would you vote for a lens as being favorite if you don't own it? i.e., the result is skewed based on which lenses are owned by someone (I assume that unless you tried all of them you wouldn't be able to select which one is your favorite, right?).

If Ultron 35 M is much better than LTM it could be two things.
One - M version is most superior 35 in LTM, M.
Or Two - LTM Ultron isn't great lens at all.
