What bag please Joe?

What I really want is something a a bit bigger than my current F-5XB ... I love this bag but stuffing my new SD1M and a couple of primes into it is really stretching the poor little Domke's capabilities.

Is there something very similar in design that will fit a DSLR and two or three primes? I've looked at the Domke range at B&H's site and I can't really make any sense of it!

I advise you to buy the Domke F-2.
I got the ruggedwear version in brown and I love it.

I think the F-5 is smaller than the F6 or not? I've got an F6, and even though I haven't used it more than 5 times (I'm a back-pack kinda person or go out with a single lens/camera combo), it's a great bag that easily fits a camera and a couple of primes.

My current small bag is the Lowepro Event Messenger 150, which cost me £41 from Amazon. I use it with 3 M43 bodies and 3 lenses, plus, from time to time, an iPad. It would certainly take a dSLR and a couple of lenses without effort.

I've had it for a few months and it's both light and tough.

I use a black canvas Domke F2 for a D3 and 3 lenses , feels good while walking and is low profile . You can even turn it into a bagpack with an optional strapsystem .

I am currently using a compact bag by Tamrac. It holds my two cameras, each with one lens. There is a pocket for some accessories.

maybe the f6, 'little bit smaller bag' or the 4af…i had both both and they did well with a smaller kit.

Someone is making camera bags that don't cost $40,000 each?? 😱
Unfortunately at that low price, they are most likely made in China by slave labor.

On the other hand, Domke bags are made in the U.S. Last I checked, there are a lot of people here in the U.S. that are in need of jobs.

I have had several Domkes over they years and they cost a little more than the Lowepro bags, but they are worth the extra cost IMHO. I had two that I sold off due to infrequent use and I came to regret that decision.

I'll vote for the F6. They hold a lot, and make a nice compact bag for a camera that size and some lenses. I like the F6 so much I have two of them!

I second the Domke F6 or F2. I love mine (I have both) and blogged about it if you're interested.

Of the two, the F6 really is the Goldilocks solution.... just right. The F2 is a fair bit bigger, but compact for all it carries.

I went with the F6 Ruggedwear. I should get it next week, but I think it will be perfect.

By the way Tom, beautiful work and a tad heartbreaking in some areas, but that's just proof of the level of your skill.

While the F2 and F6 are great bags, note that they are a different form factor than the F-5XB. The next size up would be the F5XZ, but only w/re to height; I think the widths are the same. SO, I think if you like the same form factor you may need to consider other makers. I highly recommend Thinktank - possibly the Retrospective series.

The F6 will seem huge next the 5XB. The F8 is a bit smaller ( holds more because of extra pockets ) than the 5XB ( F10 smaller ). I have all four including the F3X.

In my F6 I have the four insert included with the bag and I purchased the two insert which I use as a one insert. Mamiya M645 kit in the F6. RFer's in the F8. A&A* bags to the left. Smaller is my mFT kit.

The F10 and F3X are larger than the F5XB, yet smaller than the F4AF and F6.

+1 on F3X as being larger than F5 but still compact compared to F2.

What I like most about F3X is the fact that a DLSR with lens attached and 2 primes can easily fit in the main compartment and you still have 2 spacious outside pockets.

F6 +1, no doubt about that.
It does carry about as much as e..g. Lowe Reporter300AW but it positively feels smaller and is just less obstrusive.
