What camera do you think has the sweetest shutter sound

I agree with sepiareverb:
Leica M7
Bessa IIIW.
Leaf shutter cameras in general are very soft and discreet.
Rolleiflex is a prime example.
After these cameras I find SLRs to produce a huge cacophony with their mirror movement as well as diaphragm stop down and then shutter movement all in a short period of time.
This applies to my Nikon F F2 F3 as well as my Canon FTb.

Sure it is. The shutter on the M8 and M9 is much louder than the M240 onwards. Reducing stealthy-ness when you are taking incredible street shots of the back of people's heads. Or of cats.

This post was meant as a bit of fun, and if you are inferring that the post and/or indeed the original poster are dumb, you could not be further from the truth, for many people cameras have certain aesthetic qualities, (which evoke a multitude of emotions). Appreciating how cameras sound and look may not be such a 'Kardashian moment', after all, many here on RFF and out on the 'street' appreciate quiet 'sweet sounding shutters' when undertaking their work.

I see your point but I have to disagree. My a7rii produces a very annoying shutter sound that peaks much later than the actual exposure and that always makes me feel there is a delay and I missed the moment. Thus I switch to the electronic silent shutter most of the time but that comes with its own problems like rolling shutter artifacts and the fact that there is no audio feedback.
Similarly typing can be much better experience with mechanical keyboards that offer very precise haptic and auditory feedback.

I do like the current Leica typeface, sorta a variant of Eurostyle, but quite dislike the ISO dials on the film cameras. Don't know if there is a best ISO dial...

Not sure about being a poser, I first became aware of the need for a quiet shutter 'sound' when I freelanced for various religious newspapers in the UK, mainly for the Catholic press, (I was studying for the priesthood at the time), I photographed many religious leaders during services and a quiet shutter and/or camera became a must. I started with a Pentax Mx and then an Lx, (both of which I considered too loud), I eventually settled for the rangefinder option for their 'clandestine' qualities and nature.

Each of my M's sounds different from the other; all are very good.
The Nikon F3 at 1/125th sounds pretty good too. A Hassey 500C, same if not more drum-like.
But the one that the kids like and get genuinely enthused over??? The Pentax 6x7.
Every time. Kah-whallop! I think they like the theater of the whole device: huge tripod, huge camera, huge wood handle, and huge-huge sound.

It really needs a service, and the shutter sounds like a laser gun being shot in Star Wars (but much quieter), pft, pft, pft.

I always liked the sound of the Copal shutter in my now long-gone Nikkormat FTN. For different reasons I like the mirror and shutter sounds in my RB: you really know you have fired the shutter after that sound sequence.

Indeed I like the shutter sounds of my M2s but the mirror slap from a Mamiya RB67 was something pretty cool too 🙂
Slightly off topic, one of my favorite "photography" sound and practice was the pulling out sound of a polaroid peel apart film from a camera back, just gorgeus 🙂
