What cameras do you take on business trips?

Business trips across Asia have made up the last 15 years of my life and continue to do so. For me, I know where I'm going as I have usually been there before, and I know my time availability so I usually know what I intend to achieve photographically. That dictates what I will take and it can be anything from a P&S, but usually the Leica M and a couple of lenses (plus the P&S) or even a medium format kit if it seems the right camera for my intended activities.
 
Olympus mju ii (which is the Stylus Epic)... or something else that is small and compact.

You might not want to bring an expensive camera to jo'burg.
 
I've been using a S100, lately. IQ is fine to 8x10 and it fits in the pocket for "always with you". 24mm equiv is nice and it's reasonably fast. Made a couple of decent shots on the road with it so far.

If you don't ponder its typically fussy, deplorable operation, considered among the best (by real experts!) and lagginess too much, nausea is much reduced.

It's a good little tool, but entirely disposable. It would be nice to have a (real) Leica in this space...

Easy answer... Something small and easily pocketable: either Oly XA or Contax T3. I also carried a 35 RC on occasions, but I no longer have that one.

Man, I wish I had business trips like some of you. Sadly, on my business trips, I rarely have free time to shoot unless it's at the airport! That being said, I always have my iPhone so I just use that when necessary. If it's some place I'll just want to capture the moment, I'll throw a Canon s90 in my briefcase. If I know I'll actually have some free time I'll bring along an x100 or M9 + 35 or 50 to take on a photowalk.

Light and pretty covers all I need. Last trip to beijing this May I brought the Dlux5 and OMD.
 
The last business trip I did was to Oslow in Norway, I was the boss so added another day on so i could visit a few places like a Vikinig museum etc. I took my M6 + VC15mm 35 F2 pre asph and 90mm 2.8M 😀
 
For business trips 100% digital.

I have a Pelican 1510, fits nicely in overhead compartments.

Kinda of interesting, never had anyone from TSA bat an eyelash when taking thru security. But I do have it unlocked in case they want to take a peek.
 
A very simple Panasonic digital compact with AA batteries. Would grief if I lost it, small enough to have in a pocket and don't need a charger. I have once taken a Mamiya 645J with a 55-110 but that was a bit over it.
 
South Africa is dangerous! Cape Town relatively safe. Johannesburg not possible to walk around! I suggest a small cheap digital point and shoot that slips into a pocket! Maybe more than one. I go about once a year and have long ago decided against carrying any larger camera.
It was a different matter before end of Apartheid. I did photojournalism, fashion and advertising, etc.I visit family.It was always somewhat dangerous as is most of Africa.
It's very beautiful. The game parks require DSLR with LONG lenses. i doubt you have time. Go on organized tours.
 
I'm working in the Bay Area (Redwood City/Menlo Park, CA) for the next few days...drove up Sunday so I brought more than I will need...Mamiya m645 (2) and Nikon F body a bunch of lenses and a tripod...forgot the cable release...
I should be back up here next week to finish the job...gotta order some parts and have a cylinder repaired...most likely will come back with the same gear...
