What did I do and what should I have done?

I removed a picture (that I copied earlier from my gallery) from "rate my photograph. That deleted the thumbnail from my gallery as well.
So how do I remove from "rate my photograph" safely?

near the bottom there is a drop down list. choose move to a different gallery next time.
