What did i find ? (idjuts guide to old leica)

At this moment i´m considering to shoot my self in the foot, or to do anything else that prevents me from finding more interesting and lets say tempting cameras.
Or mabye I just have to stop walking around.

At the moment i´m in cordoba, Argentina, and all last year i didn´t find any 2nd hand stores. Annyway, to the point.

Walked past a window ; Black leica, crome leica and a Nikon RF.
just for the fun i ask for the price, 650 usd each for the leicas, and the nikon he was not sure about, since the model didn´t have a name .. 🙂

To me the black camera looks like a Leica II, was with a Hector 5cm 2,5 that also seemed to be clean. Top of the camera was quite similar too the Leica 0 model, just a few speeds and old scale settings.

Could not ask too much, because i told the guy "I was looking for a freind and only for the lenses . ."

Any ideas ?

There are some screwmount Leicas in the classified section right now for you to compare with. (Sounds high to me.)

The 5cm Hektor is not reputed to be a good lens, some call it a dog which is funny because that was the name of the lens designer's dog, but it could have some collector value, I don't know.

Have to say I was mostly interested in the camera/lens combo, especially since I haven`t seen the lens around before, but I`m neither collecting, and if the lens aint known to bee good, then I look around some more, and probably also wait some time before buying.
The lens looked nice, but if it doesn´t give good shots .. whats then the purpose ?

But I have to admit that having a small leica sounds temting as a travel camera, might be a overkill replacement for the XA, but i do like feeling the camera had in my hands ..

Mabye next year.

Edit : done some surfing and it seems to me as it was a Leica II, and a bit pricy too 🙂

The 50mm F/2.5 Hektor lens is a desireable collector's item and those in good condition bring pretty hefty prices. Still, $650 is likely too much and I'm no expert on Argentina but if I were really interested, I'd try to negatiate the price downward to something more realistic. Then I'd sell the Hektor and buy a Summitar. There would probably be money left over which lowers the price even more.

The only completed auction for a 50mm f/2.5 Hektor that came up on ebay was this one: 7624280709 The final sale price after 12 bids was $455!!
