I also went a visited that French site yesterday afternoon and got the same hit with serials from 28' and 33' with my serial collecting a blank between the two.
I suppose the camera will tell all when it shows up next week.

I would clean it with some alcohol or lighter fluid, then gently polish any oxidized black with some Mothers Mag polish. Follow with a good auto wax. It may look very good once that is done, with some brassing. I would not shine the brassing parts too much, concentrate on the paint. That way, it will have an old look still, not super shiny brass that is obviously just done.

Devin,
I am pretty sure that this will be a very pretty camera. Mucho cool. Congrats.

Now how do you all carry these things without strap lugs!
Lol, I have a old case I can sew a strap to I guess.

Devin,
DAG sells these belt clips that capture the tripod socket. With an o-ring from my physics lab one could improv a neck strap without the strap lugs.
If DAG is out of stock I have one.
You know me I'm a hoarder. LOL.
DAG and others sell wrist straps that capture the tripod socket also.

Get the "peel & stick" strap lugs made especially for Leica Standard.

Congrats. In looking at the camera closely, are you equipped to process Hazmat material?

Sorry for the diversion, I was able to buy a 1938 Leica Ie equipped with lugs, somewhat of a rarity.

I'm happy with the price and excited to own it. We will have to compare serials when it shows next week!

David,
Odd that 'the well known French site' straddled the lens serial number but didn't get a direct hit. I've not seen that before.

Hi,
Yea, I wondered too but you never know on the internet. Books published before the internet usually leave out everything prior to 1933 and start with S/No 156 001
I don't know what to believe after ready this article:-

Yeah, getting an old half case or full case and sticking some fresh straps on should do.
There are a few modern ones available for the lug-less Leicas; Kenji and Luigi to name a couple.

Well, let's wait, reading of «1984» and «Brave New World» might be forbidden soon.
Nonsense, of course I mean 2 plus 2 is 5, these novels did never exist, I presume
