I changed to DSLRs in 2002 when I replaced my "old" EOS10 with an EOSD60. Digital is nice, but after a year I longed for my long lost Canon EF. I bought one back for almost nothing at the bay. next I re-acquired the other cameras I once owned, mostly SLRs. When I had them all back and got an M4 with some Leica gear, I became intrigued with Leica tread mounts and next came the RF Canons. To check how Nikon RF's were different, I got an S2. That triggered my interest in Contax's. I recently obtained a Voigtlander 35mm folder and subsequently had to experience an MF folder. It's almost as great as the Rolleicord Va. Where does this stop???

I pick things up
I am a collector
And things, well things, they tend to accumulate
I have this net
It drags behind me
It picks up feelings
For me to feed upon

There are times, plenty of times
I wish I could let it go
But they start to breathe, and they start to grow inside me
There are times, plenty of times
I wish I could let it go
But they start to make me think things I don't wanna know

Well I currently own 2 canon film slrs, an EOS 300 and a EOS 3, a petri Manual SLR that got me started, a very old Asahi Pentax that suits my museum very wel.. Another old unidentified slr.. A canon 20D DSLR...

An olympus trip, a voigtlander Bessa R3a, and since last week a Mamiya RB 67.

So I don't know where it will stop :D

I have been looking at canonets just for the fun I had reading about them here.. Same goes for Yashica GSN?s

Hoi Ewoud,
You're Dutch as well, but let's be polite and speak English :) What Petri did get you started? I got my first SLR from my then girlfriend (now wife), a Petri V6 with a detachable lightmeter. It's in my cameras set at Flickr (click the icon in my sig).

I vehemently deny collecting cameras at all. I know from prior experience what a black pit one falls into embarking upon collecting anything! But I do have some, er, *emotional* camera purchases I can't explain from a user point of view. <sigh> :)

I guess I collect Voigtlanders - the original kind (Alhtough I'm very happy with my R3M) its not a 'REAL' Voigtlander ;)

Collect is the wrong word - I tend to accumulate and renovate and use in differing frequency, although some do sit on shelves, as I can't use them all at once!

I collect old clocks, vintage wrist watches, vintage photos, cameras (mostly Leicas but also others as interest arises), stamps, and I can't remember what else.

i collect photographs (made by myself). :D
no, in fact...i collect stamps. Or,at least, i did. Still have a lot! I guess it could pay for a user m3 if somebody would buy them from me! hmmm...an idea:D

Boy, what a loaded question. Lately, the thing for me has been fixed lens rangefinders. I have an Olympus XA which may need a CLA, a Yashica GS, which is mint except for a dent in the filter threads, and a user Rollei 35 on the way.

I'm lusting for an Olympus RC now.

Leicas are too rich for my blood. Same for Canons, Nikons, and Voigtlanders.

Before that, I've collected mechanical watches, guns, motorcycles, 35mm SLRs... Of course not all at the same time.

Just because I have what many people consider a large number of cameras, I'm not a collector. Nothing is in Exc+ condition. My Canon QL17 has an engraved social security number. The CLs have dings on the end away from the strap lugs. My SLRs have dings and brassing.

Now, if I hit the lotto, I might buy some collector quality cameras.

I don't collect cameras although I have aquired several. I have a huge collection of albums and 45's. Mostly old R&R from 50's & 60's and Blues records from 40's 50,s & 60,s. I inherated it from my uncle when he passed away.(no one else in family wanted it), Bunch of Sun label stuff. I get a big laugh looking up the value of this stuff. I have a Sun label 45 by James Cotton, and Goldmine says it's Extreamly Rare and says it's worth $900 to $1000. Who'se going to buy this stuff? Give me a break!

I have a large collection of Leica's...
my main collection besides prints is...Deardorff's in all sizes.....I can't resist a nice Deardorff.....I'm embarressed to say how many but I could do a large format class easilly....
and then there's the Guitar thing, then the blues stuff, tools...man...then there's......well......

I have about 2000 LP's from Bach to Zeppelin, and tube electronics to play them thru. Audio and music has been my longest term interest but I have stopped buying equipment because I do'nt need any more projects.

Then there are the racing bicycles; Albert Eisentraut 1974, Raleigh Professional 1972, Zeus Professional sixties, and my "new" bike Eddy Merckx Grand Prix 1990. I use them all.

Now I have a few cameras too. Got interested in this stuff while researching what to buy for my oldest daughter who is a photography major. Just got my first FSU a FED 2, that is on my bench now to fix a couple issues. Also Yashica C, Olympus RC, Vivitar 35 ES, FED 2, Asahi Pentax spottie. And so it starts.
