What do you MOST regret buying?

I only regret that I've bought too much - so far I've been able to sell back my non-favorites without taking a bath on any one item. My soon-to-be-listed Hasselblad 500CM may buck that trend, however.

Lomo Bellair 6x12. Possibly the worst $200 camera ever made.

Dante,

If it is any compensation to you: I've re-read your reviews of the Bellair more than once, not because I have ever had any interest in owning or shooting one, but because I find them to be small masterpieces of between-the-lines veiled regret and polite damning with faint praise.

Toyo large format and two lenses.......never got into it past a few Fuji instant film shots
What a waste for me....got fully immersed until I realized I had enough photo gear in other formats to keep me busy.

The worst lens I ever bought was a Tokina 28-80mm f2.8 which the seller described as being in mint condition. It certainly was mint probably because it was so awful it never got an outing. Another regret was a Canon 17-85mm IS lens which was sharp in the middle but which produced pure mush at the edges and in the corners.

I also seem to have the happy knack of choosing camera systems where the manufacturers either go bankrupt or who stop supporting their cameras. Rolleiflex, Olympus four thirds, Minolta Vectis SLRs and my latest purchase a Samsung NX 30 mirrorless outfit. Apart from the Vectis outfit, all the others still get used. I don't regret buying them as such because they all do a good job for what I want them for but I do regret the manufacturers backing out.

Leica M4-P with a Leicameter and a 50mm/1.4 Summilux. Never liked it. I lost a lot of dough with that setup. Any old MF Nikon felt like heaven after the experience.

My Fuji GS 645. A delicate but delightful camera. Eventually after some expensive servicing , yes I should have just sold it on, I have a usable camera. Trouble is I like it so much when using it I find it hard to sell it but I know it would have been better if I hadn't bought it in the first place. Should have got a Bronica

Norman strobes, we had 10-4000 WS packs, 20-2000 WS packs and 5-800 WS packs. The caps started exploding on almost every pack, not good when you work around explosives. We switched to Broncolor and never had a problem and never looked back.

Speaking only recently, the Pentax K-01.
Pretty good image quality, but the autofocus system just isn't up to par. Really feel it ought to have some kind of dedicated viewfinder as well.

The Kowa H that was my first SLR-worked for a roll and a half and jammed.

The Miranda D that was my second SLR....lenses hard to find and body wasn't dependable either.

Bronica S2A...nice image quality, but LOUD !

Printers!! The more elaborate the worse. I had a simple 13x19 HP that printed what I saw, got the lust for a more professional setup and haven't seen what I see on the monitor since. I'm sure it's me, but that doesn't stop the unhappies.

Try any of the smaller Epson Stylus Pro models. With nearly no color management/calibration with our Macs, we very accurately produce on 7900 7890 and 3880 models. No regrets.
