What exactly does heat do to film?

I always try to keep film and cameras outside of a car in the sun, but what exactly happens to film if it exposed to longer stretches of increased heat (80F+)? Increased base fog? Reduced light sensitivity?

Yay!! Good for you! So many people just create threads without doing a single bit of research (and with totally odd subject titles that have nothing to do with their question); a single search in the archives usually shows "typical questions" have already been fielded. 🙂
