I am thinking of picking up a flash for my M6. Give me some ideas of what I should get, what do you use and are you happy?

I have a LumoPro 160 coming from Midwest Photo Exchange. Never used a non-integrated flash before, but the flexibility (four different ways to sync) of the LP160, along with its reasonable price did it for me.

I'll probably end out using it more with my TLR than my Leicas -- flash sync up to 1/500th of a second is nice. (Praise be to leaf shutters!) But it may see duty on the Zeiss Ikon too (flash sync at 125th). I figured it was time to expand my horizons by trying something completely new.

While I dont like to use flash much, the one I have for RF is a Konica flash that came with a Hexar RF kit, so have used it at times.

Also recommend the Vivitar 2800. Bounce is very useful and it's a nice compact unit. On larger cameras I prefer the Vivitar 283 for its higher power (it will light up a room) and more aperture choices, but it is unwieldy on a Leica. These flashes are all quite inexpensive.

My carry everywhere flash is a Nikon SB27. If i want better bounce and more power then the SB26 comes out. But my favorites are the Leica CEYOO flash or my Graflite flashgun. Nothing reasonably portable lights up quite like a #5 flashbulb. In the CEYOO i use M3 bulbs and they provide a great amount of power for such a small flash.

LumoPro 160, off camera, fired with PocketWizards. The only thing I don't like is the "Tele Tubby" look I get with the PW on my camera.

With my rangefinder cameras and other smaller cameras I use a smallish Nikon SB-22s. It's powerful enough and its head swivels up and down. I use it with a Thyristor-Auto mode.
