in answer to my offer to buy, or trade for, a Holga last week, one member (dkirchge) offered to send me his, totally free of charge.. he didn't even have the common sense to make me pay for shipping!

and what's even more amazing, is that I got the camera today, about a week (if!) later.. which is yet another example of why I'd rather hang out here than with the finest people on the planet

thanks, Doug!

Let me offer my thanks to Greyhoundman, who generously offered to look at and try to fix the cold-weather problem (oil on the shutter blades?) I have with my QL17 GIII!

Great deal!

And so now, JF, you owe some pics from your new Holga!!

yep.. I'll start taking photos as soon as I get some sunshine.. it's been over 2 weeks since we've seen the sun

of course, then I'll also need to learn to develop my own b&w film.. and buy a scanner that can handle MF negs.. so it might be a few days 🙂

Cool thread JF... We should definitely recognize the great people here on RFF! I'd also like to make mention of Greyhoundman for his repair expertise... I have a nice looking Electro GT with fixed aperture ring & wiring on its way back thanks to his generous repair offer. From all reports this guy's work is outstanding and I can't wait to get my hands on my 'new' GT!

Brett,

Well we'll let you slide for the time being - seiing how the Holga is not exactly, shall we say, an "available light" kind of camera.

But when it gets to be Sunny 16 up there in Cheeseland we are expecting to see a lot of "cheeses"!*

RFF is really a great place to hang out in! 😉

George

* Hey, did you ever stop to think how many "ees" and "esses" there in in the plural form of cheese? 😀

OK! I'll throw snaps out to Kim Coxen and Leo Christoffer. I bought some cameras from these guys and got some great cameras for my daughters.. You guys are the best and this forum is the best!

Hmm......... and here I thought this thread was just Brett boasting about the size of his phallus 😉 (i.e. take a look at the title of the post)

Seriously though - I'll say it time and time again - The RFF is as much about a community of likeminded guys and (a few) girls that share a passion for photography - just so happens that the passion is with RF gear and we're civil enough to each other unlike some other sites online.

Cheers to all those out there making this site one of the best (if not THE best) photogrpahy based site on the big ole internet 🙂

Dave

gee, i haven't got anything free...in days!!

j/k, but i have been blessed with some wonderful and very generous new friends here.

last summer i even got to meet up with a few in person and that was great.
g'man has done way more for me than most, on or off the net, from cameras to working on cameras to calling the cops on me. (years ago that might have been a bad thing 😉)

i get mail from around the world, ideas for getting me healthy again and offers to check out lenses in the centre of the universe 🙂)). (toronto, for the uneducated)

yeah, this is a great place and i probably forgot some really good stuff too!!

Dave, you're a sick puppy.. which is why you fit in so well here

Heck, Brett.

I thought he was gonna offer you is M6 to compare to that Holga!

Shudda been more nicer! 😀

not a bad idea.. how about it, Dave? wanna trade? just for a month? (or until I can move without leaving a forwarding address)

You're quite welcome, glad it went to a good home.

This forum is great. I thank Greyhoundman and Kim for helping me out with disassembling russians and putting them back together again.

Joe, cant wait to see your holga shots. If you have bad weather why not use some 3200 film?
