I've had a bookmark for billpiercepictures.com for a long time now, but the site seems to be history now.

What gives, Bill?

I've been on the road a lot. I think I missed a payment or something, but the site was not what it should be. A museum was having trouble viewing it and asked that all the categories of images be placed in one folder. That was easy enough to do. Undoing it was much more complicated and never really done. And my idea of what a web site should be has changed a lot since I put up that first site. I should put together a new site. Any suggestions as to organizations who provide templates much appreciated.

My own site is on Wordpress.com with my own domain name. They have many different templates for photography and blogging. Whatever you choose, make sure it does not require Flash since that will prevent access from Apple devices.

Bill:

I use PhotoShelter.com for the portfolio and archive part of my web presence. That service is not too expensive, and has several ways to easily upload and organize photos. It also can be set up to handle sales. But it's not so good, if one wants to put up stories that mix words and photos. A blog, like Wordpress, is better for that, I think. I have a strong dislike for scrolling stories, as I prefer fixed page layouts for such purposes. Wordpress can be used as pages, but that's not its native mode of operation.

Bill your interview a couple of years ago on The Candid Frame was informative & regarded as a favorite. Square Space is a sponsor of the frame & what I find interesting about their templates is that it conforms to fit whatever the device you use to view your site. I'm not affiliated with Square Space but I like what those guys are doing. Check it out.
